Re-homing a Rescue Yorkie I am looking to re-home our dog. We rescued him two years ago and when he was found he was not neutered and did not have a collar or chip. I was referred by a vet that he was a dog for rescue and was about 2 years old then. We named him Skittles and do love him very much. I do know he has quite the frisky personality and cannot handle the family chaos and traffic coming and going in my home. He is a excellent watch dog and will nip and/or bite people. He is also not entirely house trained and chooses to go where he wants 1/2 the time. He loves to cuddle in bed with you at night and LOVES, LOVES food. Don't leave anything edible where he can get it. After two years with Skittles I realize our home is not his best fit. He does get plenty of love here, but deserves a one person owner with little company. The new owner should not be disabled or elderly as Skittles is a bit ferrel to me, and I would not trust him while I was in a weak situation. Skittles is about 12 lbs and 13" long back now a medium dog. I believe he was a caged breeder dog before we found him, but that is just a hunch. I also believe he his a true Yorkie. Please contact me if you are interested or know of a rescue home for him. We will be interested in learning all about your situation before he leaves this house. I am looking at re-homing him hopefully by March 2013. Thank you for reading. KN in S. California Message me through the forum |
I am sorry that you have to rehome him but I think it would be in HIS best interest if you find a Reputable Yorkie Rescue for Skittles. A rescue will assess his temperament & place him in the best possible home . Also a rescue will do in home check & vet check & IF they do not feel the new home is the BEST for him, they have the legal rite to remove him from the situation. So Please consider this option for Skittles.:) |
There is another part of the forum called: "Yorkie Rescues & New Homes Needed" You should post this there, also so more people looking to adopt will see this. I'm sorry it's not working out for Skittles, but I commend you for thinking of his comfort and trying to give him the best life he can have. I know it must be very hard to do this. |
Hope you find Skittles a good forever home. |
Bless you for rescuing this little Yorkie and doing your best for him, including trying to find him a home that fits his needs better even after all you have already done for him. :) |

Doing what is best for the dog, who is at the mercy of us humans and has no say so in what happens to him....It would be best for HIM if you put him with a reputable rescue that understands the importance of finding a perfect home for this baby.....they do the analyzing, and testing, and the scrutinizing of the applicants that want him.....please go that route so he wont be moved from home to home to home...... |
I am running out of time to re-home our yorkie. I will be taking him to Misson Viejo Animal (no-kill) shelter. If you want Skittles before April 1 please contact me. |
