Rescues in New Jersey I am starting to think my little girl needs a companion and I want to make sure that I do this with a shelter or rescue. I am nervous though, after reading a few horror stories of "rescues" that are actually puppy mill brokers. I refuse to do something that I think is helping and find out I have just supported a puppy mill. Any good rescues in NJ you can recommend to make sure I am not doing the wrong thing here. Thank you all! |

You can try: Yorkie Rescue Me, United Yorkie Rescue, Save A Yorkie |
Have you tried looking on petfinder.com? There are breed type rescued in my area but they also take in other breeds too. I would hate for you to limit yourself. |
I always recommend petfinder.com but keep in mind that not all rescues there are reputable. There are many "suspicious rescues" and some that I strongly suspect are mills, bybers and/or brokers. My post above was to mention yorkie rescues that are not mills since that is what the OP asked about. |
Lady Jane recommended some great rescues |
Unfortunately, I have gone through a bad "rescue" experience. I could be wrong, but I would assume that a rescue that has many puppies could actually be a broker. After doing some research, I found that most reputable rescues have more older dogs. I would triple research any rescue operation that has a lot of puppies or young dogs. That would be a red flag for me. |
