Dexter has the sweetest personality and has a gorgeous coat. His color is perfect. His size is 4-5lbs his topline is dead on, earset great. This puppy is worth way over $1000. I know YHR will make sure he goes to the right home. :) |
You are correct that he is adorable with alot of great features, but coat, color, size, topline, and earset are not words used in rescue and could be considered discriminating in describing a dog. They are all individual and all beautiful in their own right. That is what rescue is about, not judging or worrying about all things perfect. No disrespect to anyone here...I just want people to realize that none of these pups are more special than the next one. Rescue dog/breeder dog, perfect/not perfect. They basically all come from the same place in the beginning --- a breeder. Whether it be puppy mill, backyard breeder, individual wanting to make some money or show person continuously breeding for the sake of getting that perfect specimen. And they also end up in rescue for the same reason - a breeder who doesn’t screen well enough to make sure that these babies are not bounced from home to home. I am not saying that all breeders do that...simply saying that that is why they all end up in rescue...someone only thought about the bottom line...money. At least that is the case with most rescue pups. Breeders put a dollar amount on a non-vetted pup to make money. Rescues charge an adoption fee to offset the necessary funds to get these poor discarded pups vetted and in the shape that applicants are looking for. No money made here, just exhausted foster homes doing as much as they can to save and correct what went wrong in the beginning. Oh, and by the way, this perfect little guy with the great earset, coat, color and topline will be needing luxating patella surgery on one of his back knees at the age of 1 year old. Perfect?? Maybe after rescue fixes all the problems. |

I could not have said it better myself. It takes a very special person to foster these babies. Everyone looks at Gizmo and says wow he is show quality. They do not see the little dude when he is scared to death and hiding under my chair because there was a loud noise. They do not see him when he pees in the house and I try to correct him the right way and he is still scared cause no one ever took the time to train him. My heart goes out to all the foster Moms because the part you dont see is the hurt in our eyes after we have done all that we can for these little babies and have to hand them over to their new Momma. Fosters truly do give their heart and soul. |
BTW: we love you Lissette :) Poor Dexter might have been eaten by hawks by now if not for you. |
The point I was trying to make is that YHR pups are just a pretty as the dogs in the show ring. Believe me, you should see them when they are not flat ironed and top knot with a bow. They look like everyother pup. :) |
I think Dexter is just adorable. If I didn't have Ringo - who detests all other male dogs within a 10 foot range - I would love to snatch him up myself. LP or no LP. |

That puppy is so precious. It's just terrible that he wasn't loved in his previous home. I'm so glad that he's found a great rescue while he's waiting to find a forever home. I have no idea why people think real rescues are making money off of the pets they adopt out. How else are the vet fees and supplies going to get paid for? I hear it all the time that somebody has chosen to buy a dog from a breeder instead of paying the fees at a rescue for a "used" dog. Ridiculous. At least adoption fees are tax deductible if a rescue is non profit. I also have no idea how the rescue I got my Sparrow from only charged me $100. Sparrow was only 1.5 years old, and she was fixed, vetted, and came with her vaccinations. This lady and some volunteers run the rescue so it's not like they're somehow getting huge donations from anybody. I don't know if anybody else would think my yorkie is pretty enough to look like she could be in a show ring, but she sure is gorgeous to me. Just wait until her hair grows out and I get her groomed to look fancy. |
