Yorkie Haven needs foster homes!
 
Below is a copy of an email that we sent out today to our supporters. Thought it might be good to post it here as well! :)

Yorkie Haven is in need of foster homes (in any state). You may not be interested, but you may know someone who might be. Please forward this email on to anyone you think might be interested.

Of course, fostering is not for everyone and even though someone might be a great dog owner, that same person might not be cut out for fostering. We still encourage anyone that would like to help to email us at yorkiehavenrescue06@yahoo.com and the email will get directed to the membership coordinator who will send information on what is involved.

There are also many ways a person can help Yorkie Haven even if it isn't by fostering. For example, we can always use help with fundraising efforts, transports, posting flyers re: Yorkie Haven at your own vet or groomers, etc. Persons interested in helping, please let us know and we can send you a list of ways to help without adding extra paws to your home.

I guess this is kind of a bump to LadyJane's post, but still wanted to share my personal feelings/experience....

Being a foster mom Newbie and having my first YHR pup go to a forever home recently, was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done in my life.

I know not everyone is able to foster, but for any of you thinking about this for any rescue, I think you will be happy with your decision.

And, thank you to those that have been rescuing pups for years and years. You'll are amazing. :)

If YHR was in the state of Michigan, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Granted, I know I would heartbroken at times.

YHR needs foster homes in ANY state. You should contact Linda and ask for more information.

I am going to fill out an application. I am finding so many without homes I want to do all I can to help any furrbutts that are in need.

I love the thought of helping these pups. I know it must be so satisfying. I just know that I can't do it. I am a very emotional person and I know that I would get attached. Then I would be afraid I wouldn't let them go. I could see me making up all kinds of excuses why the pup should stay with me. :( So I don't think fostering is for me. However, Linda I will do anything else that would help. Just say the word and I will see what I can do. I will email also just so they know I will help in any way that I can.

Fostering is definitely not for everyone. If you send an email, our membership coordinator will tell you what you can do to help. Even if it is just to take your name for a possible transport one day! There are so many ways to help. You really help anyway...you always promote rescue! And..you promote the Cloud Nine beds! :D

I could do transport! :D Hopefully I won't steal one of the cuties! :eek: :p Ha ha. Just kidding!! I will contact her and see what I can do!

i am emotional as well but when you remember what is best for their heart and needs and not your own....well i think that will make it worth it. my husband was reluctant and when i explained that we would be saving babies from the harm of death...or starvation...or neglect......and taking them in and giving them love and a warm safe home....well he said ok...as long as its yorkies...i dont want any big dogs...haha this is from a man who only wanted a big dog until he saved a little dog from a being hit by a truck...and realized how big they really are!! he is in love with cedric and princess!! the man who said i could never have a small dog and now i have two...and we are applying to be a foster family....hahaha the gods they work in mystical ways.

Oh, I understand what you mean about getting attached. Hugs to you - you are always thinking about the pups and that is wonderful.

There are plenty of ways to help a rescue without fostering. So glad you are interested. :)

I am interested in fostering, but there never seem to be any dogs in Washington when I look at the site. I will put in an application though! I can also help with transport :)

That's because we don't have any foster homes in WA. Perhaps you could be the first one. :) If you send an email our membership coordinator will be in touch! :)

Please sign up to foster...so far it has been a very positive experience to hopefully save precious furrrr babies. even if ur not sure your heart can handle the job...just remember in the end ur saving a furbaby from death or a horrible world!! there is some paperwork and rules and such but in the end if we are saving and homing a beautiful fursoul with the appropriate family......well it's sooo worth it.

I signed up and spoke with Robin on the phone. She just has to schedule the home check and I will be part of Yorkie Haven Rescue!

I am going to sign up too, I volunteer with a local rescue called Atlanta Pet Rescue (and will continue) but I have room in my heart and my home to help.

Hope I am accepted, if not I can help with transports.
