What might this rescue need? I don't know what compelled me to go to petfinder at 2:30 in the morning when I should be sleeping, but I did. This little guy is seriously pulling my heart strings!:(:(:( Just look at his face, it almost brings me to tears. If you read up on the link it says he is special needs, in your very experienced opinions what might you think he would need from me? I have e-mailed the shelter and hope to hear from them soon. I would never want to take on more than I could handle, but if I can handle him I would be so honored! It says that he may have been hit by a car, so he'll need to see a vet immediately to treat his injuries. The incontenience could be due to his injuries so that "issue" may clear up after he is healed from whatever injury he suffered. It would be great to read about his recovery, but he does sound like he'll be a lot of work to help, and his injuries could be quite costly to fix. Maybe there is a yorkie rescue that can help him if you cant? The poor guy, his little face melted me as well, I can see why you'd want to help him. |
YHR had a little girl come in a few months ago who had also been hit by a car and experienced similar symptoms. She's slowly but surely recovering. (You can read about Gabby's progress in Ladyjane's ongoing thread in the Rescue forum). Gabby needed: Surgery Physical therapy at least once or twice a month Medications (pain, anti-inflamatory, antibiotic, etc.) Bladder/bowel expressing daily Time Lots of love and attention I know I'm probably missing a lot, but you could contact Ladyjane for me details. You have to be prepared though - the longer this little guy goes without proper care, the less likely a full recovery will be. Bless you for wanting to help him! :) Bonny |

Here's another thread started by a YT member about her girl, Layla. It will give you a good idea of the type of ongoing care, physical therapy and medical expenses this little guy may require. I got a little worried when I went to the site & his profile was gone, but then found this e-mail: Hi, Thanks for your interest in helping Seymour. It is nice to know there are people out there that love the special needs ones too :) Sadly, the damage to his pelvis was permanent, so he won't be able to have surgical correction. He does have no control over either pooping or peeing, so that has been a struggle. This past Thursday we got him into a foster to adopt situation where he is going to use a wheeled cart to get around, along with ramps. As long as this goes ok, his foster mom will be adopting him. Thanks again for your interest! Please keep checking the website as we get new dogs in every day. I hope it works out for him, he looks like such a sweet baby! We'll just keep our eyes peeled for the right baby at the right time.:) |
Oh that poor baby! I hope his foster mom is treating him as well as he deserves to be treated. It just breaks my heart when people are not the kind of friend to their dogs that their dogs are to them - heartbreaking.:( It's such a shame he could not get help before his damage was permanent. |
