I just got home and am exhausted....and my pups naturally want all of my attention; so I am making this a short post. Gabby is a mess....she had diarrhea in the car and her little tushy is swollen and red. :( She is super skinny. Teeth are dreadful. She falls over a lot more than I saw on the video but may just be super stressed today. She is a sweet little girl and just wants to be loved....when I stopped petting her, she barked for more. :) She even wagged her little tail in spite of how awful she must feel. She is at the vet and I will be hearing from them after they examine her. Oh, and her left eye has an awful ulcer...I do hope she is being seen in time and we can save it. Thank you all! I will post more later.... |

I'm mailing a little something for her, but I put Lizzie as her name instead of Gabby.....just so you know. :) |
Lin, Please let me know if she needs anything else, anything at all. Lissette, Next time I see you we are going out for a fabulous lunch anywhere you choose on me! Even if we have to wait until July for the dog show ;) maybe we'll even get frozen yogurt after! Bless you for helping out the way you do, really, it means a lot to more people than you know. |
After seeing this little girl, just want everyone to know that she will need donations for her medical treatment. She has a hard time standing up and like Linda said she was sick most of the trip. I am glad she is in Good Hands now. Gabby is a very happy girl. :) |

Oh my goodness, I'm just now seeing this. What sprit little Gabby has. With all that she's been through and in the video you can just see her determination. I'm off to make a donation. |
that poor baby. almost looks like some sort of back injury to me. hope you get some encouraging news soon. in the meantime, prayers for Gabby and her caregivers. |
The kindness of people here brings tears to my eyes. Bless you all and especially little Lizzy/Gabby I hope this is the first day of your wonderful new life. |
Classy! Thank you ladies for what you have done, with your help she now has a chance. I'm sure you will be blessed. |
Wow...I am just speechless here, my heart is just full from reading these post that I just ran across. You ladies are amazing, wow.....I watched one of the videos but could not watch any more , I just wanted to cry which does not come easy for me most times. I live in the dallas area, 30 miles east in Kaufman. If I thought my car would make it and someone offered some gas, as I no longer have an income, I would have been on the road to pick Gabby up. I want so bad to donate and I feel so very sad that I am unable to give any money. I have never fostered before and not sure how that even works. Is there anything else I can do to help? I want so much to get involved with helping yorkies in need, but I don't know what to do or how to start. This story has motivated me to want to give of myself, I think of my little year old Gizmo, and if anything were to ever happen to him, what on earth would I do. As it stands right now being layed off for a couple of years, I make sure my baby has everything he needs, spending my last on him. I would love to get to know some of you and be a part of the team. Please forgive me, I did not mean for this to be so long, and I am in no way trying to take the focus off of Gabby and put it on me, Just want to help and don't know how. Thank you for listening, and God Bless You All!:embarasse:good job: |
I am sorry to have taken so long here to update. I was pretty floored by what the vet had told me and needed some time to digest it. I am so used to being able to fix pups and I am not sure that we can do that for Gabby. She may just have some long lasting limitations. I don't think that bothers her as much as it does me...she is quite the charming little pupster! :) Just a sweetie and she was wagging her tail today and licking me even though I know she is uncomfortable. For now: They believe that Gabby has had an injury or some other event to her back/spine that has caused her to be unable to control her hind legs. She has hypermetria and is quite uncoordinated. An xray was done to r/o AAI. They do believe this is a very old injury or event due to the fact that she has a large amount of muscle wasting. We will be following up with a neurologist. Her left eye did have an ulcer that is actually healing...perhaps because the shelter did treat it! She is on eye medications now and will continue them until it is healed. She will not have perfect vision as it was a large ulcer but she will not be losing the vision in that eye totally. They said that she is incontinent, but I am going to question that tomorrow because she is full of feces (that was seen on xray) and I swear she was trying to move them tonight. Perhaps she is a bit impacted. They did not think so, but I just have that feeling, since she was puckering and I saw stool in there this evening. She had a horrible UTI .. lots of blood and bacteria in her urine. She was given an injection of Convenia for that. We did do labs on her and a heartworm test...those results will be back tomorrow. Her teeth are just dreadful and I am sure she will lose quite a few teeth when she has a dental. She is sound asleep now. She had a bath and ate well. :) Poor baby is painfully thin. She weighs slightly over 5 pounds and probably should put another 2 pounds on. God Bless all of you for all you have done, for your kind words, your thoughts and prayers, orders from the YHR Boutique, and donations. You are all an amazing bunch of people! :) Oh...and as for her name. Lizzie was a great suggestion, but YHR had a Lizzie in the past and I avoid using names that have been used; so, I stuck with Gabby. Her Aunt Lissette was fine with that! :) |
Awww I hope Gabby has a beautiful sleep tonight, that poor darling needs it. I know YHR will do the best for her and she will be the best she can be in no time. As for you....god only gives us what we can handle!:D |
When I seen this thread yesterday it made me sick that I was living right here in Dallas and could not drive due to surgery. I am so glad that little thing got help as quick as she did.. You all are great!!!!! Maybe with all the problems this little thing has at least her future will be alot better than her past. Just wished I could have helped. Happy New Year little Gabby and may you have many more with people who love you. |
Thank you so much for the update Ladyjane. Gabby sounds like a sweetheart and I think her name is so very appropriate. I hope both of you were able to sleep peacefully last night, after such a difficult day. Will check back for updates today and you both are in my thoughts and prayers. |
