OMG---not spayed! Anyone heard of this rescue? I am so worried. I just found this yorkie on petfinder. Adoptable Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie: Charlotte: Petfinder Both numbers to the NC Animal Rescue have been disconnected. The only way you can reach them is by email. The animals they have listed make them appear to be a legit rescue but this dog makes me nervous. She is unspayed, 8 yrs old. Could she be lost/stolen, from a puppy mill??? What are your thoughts? I have emailed the contact person. This little girl is only 1.5 hours away from me. |
Still intact and never been on a leash? I bet she was used as a breeder at a puppy mill. |

They have a few listings you'll find if you google them on different websites one for a Lab mix. I'm flying into Greensboro NC tomorrow to pick up my 7 year old granddaughter and flying back the next days. She spending 2 weeks with Nana and the puppies I'm so excited. They just moved to Winston Salem. |
One of the fastest growing scams is so called rescues. Breeders and brokers often own "rescue" and market their dogs this way. A legitimate rescue will work with vets and get low costs neuters done before they place the dogs, and selling an unneutered/unspayed dog is one of the biggest tipoffs. This dog is probably an ex-breeder, and it sounds like her owner is willing to sell her to anyone for the money. Good breeders will sell ex-breeders after having them spayed/neutered, and a teeth cleaning and the cost for this is around $300.00 even for a champion, so even place for free to the right home. So beware, if the price is much higher. |

I'm far from an expert in the matter, but I did find our a couple of things. First they only have 6 dogs they are finding homes for, and only one yorkie so that seems good. I mean it doesn't look like they work for breeders. Pet Search Results: Adoptable Pets in Winston-Salem, NC: Petfinder Also the name of the contact is Lisa Caroll, and here is her facebook page: Lisa Carroll | Facebook If you look at that, you will find this link: The Perils of "Free To Good Home" Ads, which has lots of great tips on finding a good home for your pet, should you need to rehome, so this is also a good sign. |

    So I looked at her Facebook page and the Yorkie we are talking about is her PROFILE PICTURE???????????????????????? That is a little strange, isn't it...unless she rotates pics of her current pups on her profile page. |

Thanks for your help! |
By going to her FB page and then linking to her info on AdoptApet.com. I get the impression she is a younger girl who takes in rescues on her own. If she is legit, this would explain why she is not paying to have them spayed. Maybe she doesn't know that some vets spay rescues for a discount? I have contacted her via her email address and also via FB. I hope to hear from her soon. I would love to give this little girl a home! All input from others is helfpul. I am completely new to RESCUES and I definitely am naive on things. I tend to believe the best in everyone but it seems people are not always honest in these types of situations. I will keep everyone updated! Is it appropriate for me to ask for the dog to meet my 10 year old to be sure they get along? My 14 year old keeps to herself and sleeps alot and will get along (or at least tolerates :)) with anybody. |

Ladyjane is a member her, you can send her a PM by clicking this link. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pri...=newpm&u=13250 |
How sad. :( I wish people who cannot afford to rescue would stop this kind of behavior. I sent this to one of our NC members to see if she can help. This poor pupster needs to be saved from her "savior". :( |
