Tinker was thrown over a fence late in the night at a rural shelter. She landed in a garbage can where she was painfully being eaten by flies, ticks and fleas. Fortunately, the next morning the shelter worker heard her cries. She was so badly matted she could barely walk. She was labled unadoptable and was scheduled to be gassed. A volunteer saw her and called Almost Home. We had her immediately driven 6 hours to safety. When I first laid eyes on her she peeked her little head up and her big beautiful eyes said please help me. I picked her tiny body up and she felt like chicken bones. She was shivering and it was 80 degrees outside. I tried to cuddle her but she was just skin and bones so I wrapped her in a blanket and carried her in to my home. She was infested with insects. Her hair was matted like a nest. I cut the hair opened and their were fleas everywhere. I bathed her and pulled all the fleas off taking nearly an hour. By then she was exhausted me too. She fell asleep in my arms. I sat on the sofa with her and I could feel the tears rolling down my cheeks. I couldn't imagine how any humane being could do this. She was so helpless and so small. I rubbed her tummy and she opened one eye and then fell fast asleep. The next day I took her to the Veterinarian where she got such wonderful care. Dr. Ross fell in love with her as everyone else too. I had to leave her over night. I thought of her all night unable to sleep. How could this happen? I ask myself over and over and over. How can I change this world? What can I say to the people in this world to stop this madness? She is so innocent...I picked her up the next day. She was all wrapped up in a baby blanket. She was so happy to see me and I her. I kissed her tiny forehead and she licked my cheek. Tinker is doing really well now. She is eating like a horse, playing like a puppy should, loving every bit of her precious life. She is so adorable and so much fun. She even dances as if she has her own rountine. She is truly a joy. Anyone who is feeling down can feel happy just by being in her presence. You don't even have to be an animal lover to love her... UPDATE ON TINKER: 10/3/05 Our little Tinker has been very ill. We are not sure how long it will be until she will be ready for adoption. Dr says she should make a full recovery. Her medical bills will be high and hope that someone who is wanting to adopt her will be willing to pay her adoption fee of $500.00. Please do not send applications or inquires unless willing to do so. Tinker will not be at the Pet Adoption. However there will be many other homeless dogs and cats waiting for their forever home at our Pet Adoption Saturday. Hope to see you.
This baby is adorable and could really use a loving home where she can get all the care that she needs. Can any of you take her? |
