Yorkie Rescue Colorado …. As many of you know, our President/Founder, Trish Rose lost her battle with cancer on June 18, 2009. She worked tirelessly to establish her rescue and that work continued up until just a few days before her death. Trish was the driving force within the Rescue and the rest of us were merely cheerleaders, sounding boards, helpers and always there to help her realize her dream … she was it’s heart! We are very proud of her accomplishments and there are 78 grateful little Yorkies and their forever families whom I am certain feel as we do. During her life, Trish was always eager to share her wealth of knowledge and experience on a myriad of topics. Her favorite, of course, was Yorkshire Terriers. She took particular interest in a small rescue which was began shortly after YRC and was facing much the same struggles as we had here in Colorado. That rescue was Oklahoma Yorkie Rescue and she offered to mentor them and help with anything that she could. We didn’t have any money but we sure did have lots of information. She was very proud of all the hard work they have done and all the animals that they have helped. She was fond of saying that we “thought outside the box”! It is the decision of the Board of Directors that, in order to preserve Yorkie Rescue Colorado’s mission, the impecible reputation and good name of our founder, Trish Rose, that YRC’s best interest would be served to begin dissolution. To carry out the dissolution of a 501(c)(3), certain guidelines are required. We believe that Trish would approve our decisions and after much consideration, we unanimously voted to turn over all assets to Oklahoma Yorkie Rescue in it’s entirety. We will maintain our website as a tribute site in perpetuity to Trish and all her hard work and OKYR will also have a tribute page on their website for Trish. One thing is for certain, Trish will forever be missed and will always live on in the hearts of those of us who loved her. |
Trish sounds like an amazing woman. I'm sorry to hear of YRC dissolving, but glad to hear that another wonderful organization will carry on with YRC's experience and support. Will there still be any fosters in Colorado, or will everything be in OK from now on? |

We will be leaving Colorado at the end of the month [my husband's projects here are finally finished] and we will no longer have representation for YRC in the state. In order to comply with the federal and state laws, dissolution was our only choice. |
I know you lost a very dear friend Bettyanne when Trish passed. What the two of you accomplished along with other's who worked with you, is truly something to be proud of. I am sorry that YRC is closing it's doors and I hope that another rescue will open up soon to help those pups in need in that state. Wonderful memories were made during the time of YRC and will always be with you. Once again I am sorry you lost such a dear friend. Hugs, |
I am also sad to hear this. I know how much that rescue meant to Trish. She did so much for yorkies in need. Best to you Bettyeanne. I know it has been a difficult year for you. |
Thank you, Carole and Linda! Yes, this has been an unbelievablely difficult time for all of us and will be for some time to come. I feel certain that it will get easier with time but for now I dread opening my eyes every morning, praying that it was just a bad dream. I am almost looking forward to the move home ... praying that the change of scenery will help. Again, thank you all. |
Can't Thank you enough I am a board member and a foster for the OK Yorkie Rescue. First, let me say how very sorry we are for your tremendous loss of Trish. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting her but I can tell she was a wonderful lady by your posts and comments. Also her love for yorkies and the desire to save and rehome them speaks mountains for her. My heart is heavy for her family and the Rescue volunteers. As a board member for the OKYR I can't tell you how overcome with emotion I was when our founder, Kelly, made the announcement of your decision. What an amazing thing! I can never tell you how very Thankful we are, but I can promise you as a volunteer I will work tirelessly to carry on Trish's dream. Her name will be honored and her dreamed fulfilled each time another wonderful home is found for a yorkie. From the bottom of my heart I pray that you all find comfort knowing that we will work hard to carry on her dream. I pray that each day will get better for each of Trish's volunteers and her loving family. We are blessed at OKYR! Thank you so very much...we can never tell you how grateful we are! Hugs! I am so sorry to hear about Trish....because of her many little yorkies have been given a chance at a better life. Bettyanne you have been a huge support to me and I wish you the best. |
Although it is very sad to hear that YRC is officially dissolving all of the great things that your organization accomplished will be a legacy to Trish and her life. What a truly wonderful thing to do in honor of both Trish and all of the pups in need that were helped over the years to carry on with Oklahoma Yorkie Rescue. When you wake in the morning you, reflect upon the changes that you as a member of YRC were able to bring to the rescue community. Even though you might feel just a small part it is all of those involved no matter what their role that build the community as a whole making a difference. Thank you  |
I am so sorry to hear this...Trish was a great women. We went way back.... |
We are so thankful and will make you proud! |
