Oh no I understand there is nothing you can do. I just wanted to let people know the reality of it all. It's been my experience when I lived in Ca. that they will adopt a sick pet to anyone. I pulled 2 sick ones myself and I'm not a rescue. I do rescue but I pay out of pocket and am always drawn to the most needy. So I really hope someone will go the distance for this baby before it's too late.

I know some shelters are like that. I just got the impression that this little one would be ok since they have an adoption program. The lady was very encouraging on the phone. The only concern she voiced to me was IF this one contracted parvo.

I am going to call again tomorrow and ask about where she is and IF she really IS ok. This is bothering me now. I actually kind of hate to call because if they euthanize her, I really do not want to know it. :(

Just wondering, have you ever been in a shelter sick room? In my opinion they should not have sick rooms. They should just euth. I know that may sound harsh but once they go in they are immidiatly exposed and usually contract every disease that all the other dogs have. Unless they were lucky enough to have had an owner who kept up on the vacs before the dog entered the shelter. Not usually the case unfortunately.

It depends on the shelter. I know of one here that is excellent..and dogs do make it out of there!

Yes but you are in Texas. I lived in Ca most of my life and saw the inside of way too many shelters. I don't know what it is about Ca. but Ive never seen so many animals in shelters with kennel cough. I live in Idaho now and not nearly as many sick ones here.

It is like that here. I am just saying not ALL are as bad as the others.

When will we know anything about her, did they say how long her quarantine is?

This thread depressed me so much last night that I decided against calling there today.

It will do me NO good to know something I do not want to hear.
I hung up the phone yesterday feeling the poor little darling had a chance...I really want to just go back to accepting what the lady told me and praying for the best.

I have contacted people I think can help and that is all I can do.
