Need to find new loving home for Yorkie I am in the Province of Ontario, in Canada, so I hope some Canadians are reading on here. I am looking for a new home for my 5 year old, neutered Yorkie. His name is Reggie and I have had him since he was a puppy. All his shots are up to date. I had not had experience training and raising a dog when my kids cried for me to buy him. As a result he has been allowed to be the BOSS of everyone and everything in the house. He is such a loveable and cuddly little guy but he is way too bossy towards the 3 adult cats and 1 baby kitten I have. If there is food around they aren't even allowed to walk through the room! He lays down the rules! Also, because I work all day he has been trained on pee pads. He is pretty good with them but only about 75% of the time. Between his being mean to the cats and the occasional accident he is spending more and more time in his "playpen" and crate. Reggie needs to go to a home where his new mom and dad are familiar with Yorkies and he can be the only pet. With proper handling Reggie will be a wonderful pet. I feel terrible even thinking about giving him away but its just not fair to him, to me and to the other pets. I feel that the members here are loving Yorkie people and this is the only place I will post this Ad. Please, if anyone can open their home and hearts to this cutie, please respond to this post. He comes with his crate, toys and his smelly stuffed bear that he sleeps with. Thanks |
Canadians are Welcoming... I hope you find a loving home for him! I have a full house...with 9! |

I would suggest calling a Yorkie Rescue group. They do a wonderful job screening perspective adoptive parents. ;) |
Posting photos of him may help. |
Thanks for the tip. I haven't mastered this site yet. Where do I post the pictures? |

When the message window is open, look at the paperclip icon located at the top of the window (it is next to the happy face). When you click on the paperclip icon a window will pop open asking you to choose the files you would like to post. It is just like using attachments in your email. Good Luck finding a home for the little one. |
I wish you the best of luck as it will probally be traumatizing for both of you . Reggie be a sweet boy!:animal36 |
Just wondering how you made out..any news yet on finding a home for reggie?..:) |
Well, after thinking it over and coming close to people showing an interest I simply could not do it. My son who is 21 was actually brought to tears at the thought. I realize now that Reggie, good or bad, is part of this family. Wherever I am, he is.... Thanks for asking. |

I really appreciate your interest. I am having two problems with him, the first is that he is very possesive about his "stuff". I have 4 cats and if they even walk in the room where his rawhide or toy might be he can get quite vicious with them. This is also true if I am eating something and he knows he will probably get a little piece....he gets all crazy to think that one of the cats might actually get his piece. This has resulted in the cats all being afraid of him and not wanting to socialize with me any more. He thinks he is the boss of everything and everyone in the house. The other issue is that he has been trained on pee pads but given the opportunity, he will pee on the corner of the carpet. I have actually trained MYSELF now to keep a much closer eye on him and he no longer has the run of the house during the day when I am at work. Also at night I put a baby gate up in my bedroom so he can't get out. He has no problem holding it all night. So I guess you could say that problem is under control. Any suggestions on the mean behaviour to the cats? |
Just wondering if you have ever tried Belly Bands to help with your carpets,Harley is 2 now and still has the odd accident so i keep one on him all the time in the house, not saying its an excuse for not taking them outside every few hours and giving them regular excersise..both of which i do everyday but it certainly alleviates a lot of stress and is especially helpful in the colder weather. We have a cat also but he was here first and they get along fine..i think maybe if you start to be boss and put Reggie in his place when needed you will start to see improvements in his behaviours, easier said then done i know but i have done this with Harley and he is much better behaved ,he now actually seems to listen and looks to me for direction far more then he ever has..takes time but well worth it..:) |
