Several Yorkies in Ohio - Adult Females and Pups A few weeks ago, I adopted my baby girl Cosette. She was a Puppy Mill survivor. The rescue group I went through had several others including Cosette's sister. Cosette has turned out so wonderfully, I wanted to post the info on here in case anyone was looking. I have seen and handled these dogs personally, as I sat for hours trying to make the right decision to which would be coming home with me:) It was very tough! 1- Joanna - almost 2 years old. She was completely emaciated when the rescue got her. She has put on weight but has some more to go. She is a Yorkie that has longer legs/body, probably will fill out at about 8 lbs. She has an AMAZING personality, loves people and dogs alike. That being said she is very high energy and loves to play. 2- Cosette's sister - just over 2 years old. She is BEAUTIFUL, the lightest Yorkie coat I have seen, her blue looks silver and gold looks champagne. Her coat is already mid-length, needs groomed but could totally go into a topknot. She is very compact, low to the ground, short body. I wanted to take her but 3 weeks ago she was not quite ready. She had no interest in people or other dogs. She was not aggressive at all, just showed no interest. I held her for hours and she just sat in my arms, but paid me no attention. She also is very calm. Played with a few toys, but very casually and subdued. Cosette was similar but not fully to that degree, I am amazed how quickly she has 'come out of her shell' and think her sister would be great with someone who would be willing to give her some love and patience. 3- Yorkie pups from #2 above. I want to say they are around 12 weeks. I believe there are 4 of them. I don't know genders etc. but they were great pups, very cute, friendly and playful (they did not experience the 'puppy mill' life) Here is a link to the site My Young & Old Furbabies Rescue She has not updated her page with all the dogs above, only Joanna is shown. Her name is Vicky and she can be reached at 740-472-9828. Thanks for reading Amber |
aww.. hope they all receive forever homes soon is it a yorkie rescue kennel with a no kill policy? |
Yes it actually is an all breed rescue which has a no kill policy. Because she lives in Amish Country she specializes in Puppy Mill dogs (Puppy Mills in my area are often operated by Amish). |
puppy mill rescue When do you think she will have pictures up on the website? Have you dealt with her before? My little Rizzo girl was a mill rescue at about 2 years old and she blossomed into a doll. How is Cosette sister around the other dogs that were there? Are the puppies lighter coloring or darker in color? I am looking for a female that is similar to Rizzo like Cosettes sister but her demeaner is a little worry some. However I am home all day and can give a new baby a lot of attention.:animal36 Loree |
