"5 yr. old Male Yorkie "FREE" to a Good Home! I have a close "Friend" that has a "Rescued Yorkie" that is 5 yrs.old, 7 lb. full grown, he is NOT "Crate Trained" and he is House Trained but still has an Accident once in awhile. He is Neutered but he is NOT AKC. Registered and has NO Papers at all, since he was Not intended for Breeding. She had phoned me this Evening b/c she wants to get rid if him Immedietely since he has not been properly "Socialized" or "Trained" in any way by her. She rescued him from a Lady that totally Neglected him for 3 yrs. he was tossed aside after the Family had purchased an additional "Female Teacup Yorkie" that only ended up being 3 1/2 lbs. Here's the catch.......He has bitten 8 people, w/c includes her Grand Children. Both of her Sons want him to be put to Sleep! She used to own a Giant Schnauzer that also had a biting and barking problem in fact she Rescued the Yorkie to replace it. I know I sound like I'm rambling on but I'm in a PANIC b/c I've known this Yorkie for the past 2 yrs. that she's had him and I know in my Heart that he does'nt deserve to live like this or die like that! She is an inexperienced Yorkie Owner that is incompetent and has NO idea how to handle him. She also has problems w/Strangers coming into her Home, he is a Terror and can't control him at all! I already have 3 that are a Family and my BF and Mother are already saying NO more Yorkies! Especially since he is a male he will not be able to Live and get along w/my male? But my 3 do get along w/him for play dates, his name is "Brewster" she changed it from "Bruiser" once already so it is possible to change his Name again. He is very sweet and loving and is perfect Dog otherwise! I need only Serious Yorkie experts to PM me, this is not for a "Begginer" he is only biting out of "Fear" and I'm sure with the right person he would be the Perfect Companion and Best Friend! |
Im in the uk, so no good for adopting, but really hope someone wants him soon. Sounds like he needs to be rescued quickly. :( |
I wish I could but I have 2 now. Do you have any photos of him that would help him find a home. I hope you take him till someone else takes him OMG we don't want him put to sleep!!!!!!! You know their is a home out their for Brewster.:) Hope this is the last dog for your friend:mad: |
Oh my goodness. He probably just needs patience & training. Poor little guy needs someone he can trust. Can you get a pic? |
Contact a rescue group as quickly as you can if she even says the words 'put to sleep.' Yikes!!!!!! |
Yeah, he could probably do great in a nice quiet house with a little 'ol lady or something, I have 2 small boys so it sounds like a bad situation for us, good luck, keep looking.:) |
OMG - Please do not let them PTS :( :( :( Can you contact a Reputable Yorkie Rescue in the area??? This is so sad, please do not let him be PTS - He deserves a chance :( |
Dont let them put him to sleep. There must be someone on this site near you that would love him.... |
How sad, he needs love, training, not put to sleep :(. I hope you find a good rescue team to help him past these hurdles. Poor guy. |
Foster/Rescue I would say to try the Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue (YTNR) even if they are looking for fosters as indicated in another thread in this section. With a more experience yorkie handler, the little guy may just turn out to be a "gem". |

Better check first....last I heard their policy was to euthanize biters. If that is their policy, I would hope they simply would say no to this one. |
I was told that she already found a new home for him and that rescue was not an option because of the "reselling" of dogs in rescue~unless I misunderstood what I was told. |
My Good Deed for the Day......an update I personally took him in, he is here w/me and my Pack of 3 Yorkies. I have had him since yesterday she brought him and all his things to my House, she was'nt even here 5 min. she broke into tears and left him. He has been an absolute Angel and in less than 24 hrs. he has been mysteriously House Trained? He shows NO signs of Aggression or Fear and seems to be fully Trained for Me anyway? I trust my Pack w/him and him w/my Pack, I have'nt had any problems at all. She also complained that he had a barking/whining problem but so far not a peep from him. Both of the females snapped @ him once b/c he was trying to hump/dominate them, my male was just looking @ him like he was Crazy? I'm glad I did'nt listen to anyone. I knew in my Heart that he was'nt as bad as she said he was. I have tested him in many situations and I can't see what she is talking about, he seems like a typical normal Yorkie. I'm only keeping him for a week or a month, until he is Trained and completely Socialized. My Mother in Law has been waiting for a male Yorkie for 3 yrs. now and has been upset since I stopped Breeding them. So I cleaned him up and promised to do all his Grooming for Free. That was my Good Deed for the Day, Save a Yorkie! |

I am happy to hear he is safe and yes that is a good deed! One thing I want to say about this....is that often when a pup is placed in a new environment there is a period of time until they show their true personalities...usually 2 - 3 weeks. Please let us know how he is doing! I really hope he does well and ends up happy forever! |
Nice going Artie. Thank you. Post a few pics of the lucky guy when you get time. |

Looking for a male adult Yorkie I saw your post about the little male Yorkie. Are you still looking for a home for him? I know a retired lady who lives alone in an apartment who is looking for an adult Yorkie. She is an experienced longtime dogsitter(all kinds) and would make an excellent home. I'm in Virginia. If you still need a home for him, please e-mail me and let's talk. (I've volunteered with Labrador Retriever Rescue for 7 years and have seen dogs with a LOT of problems that usually disappear once the dogs are treated the way they should be. ) |

Or 6 months in our case. Our rescue has been in our house for 6 months and we were told she nipped at the children and was surrendered by the owners. We saw very little nipping the first few months (only adults that moved too fast around her). The past month we are now dealing with it in full force. At least she has not tried ever to bite children. Good luck! It sounds like he will be well taken care of. |
He's Gone and I miss him! My Mother-in-law picked him up last night and I miss him so much! But I know I made the best decision......3 Yorkies are enough, 4 are a little too much for me. Maybe b/c he was an outsider, my 3 are a Family - Father, Mother and Daughter. Training him took alot of Energy. He was very Smart and I was able to teach him alot in a short amount of time. He knew more Tricks than my own Dogs. Some one spent alot of time with him he was impressive but kind of Hyper & Nervous at first, but then he is an Absolute Sweet Heart and very affectionate. She is Lucky to have him, She owns a 900 acre Nursery & the Local Bee Keeper w/10 Hives. He's riding around w/her in a Golf Cart cruising the Property. She has been waiting for a "Free" male Yorkie for 3 yrs. now. I'm so Happy for both of them, they deserve each other! I hope I don't get anymore Owners surrendering their Pets? |
Glad he has a home. Maybe the Grandchildern were picking on him. Little kids don't always know how to treat aniamals and yorkie's are small. I have to watch my grandson around mine he's only 18 months old. but sophie is smart she stays away. i think she jeoulos of him. |
