Oprah Show today ~ 90 Yorkies Rescued I am just sick to my stomach when I saw where these little dears lived. they had 4 on the show that had never been out of a cage and they were so good but you could see they were frightened. The woman from the St. Louis Humane Society said it was the worst puppy mill they have EVER seen. How can people do this is beyond me. It will be two months before they will let any of them go to new homes. they have to get them used to life outside a cage and evaluate their health to see if there is a good chance for them to work out in a home or need more medical care where they are at. She said there might be a chance for a couple to be ready in a month but more like two months. I will try to get the phone # there and add to this thread. House breaking will be quite a job she said but not impossible. This is terrible:cry8: |
I just finished watching it too and it made me sick to see the way they lived. When they said some of them couldnt move their limbs because of being so matted I was shocked. It is beyond me how anyone could be so cruel and heartless . |
I hope this link works, let me know if you don't see it.....sometimes I can and no one else can. Yorkies Rescued from Puppy Mill |

you can't get through on it but the link I posted above has instructions on how to get more info or donate to their care. |
Phone # is 314-951-1562 I'm sure they'll have an email address coming or maybe there was one on the link I posted, I didn't take time to read it all. |
Joan, Thank You for posting this, its so heartbreaking. So sad to hear about those little cuties. "They hadn't been cleaned. They hadn't been socialized. They had been living in 2 by 2 cages.":( |
Just wanted to let you know we have been discussing this all week here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...3-yorkies.html -- there is a lot of information in the thread with links, etc People tend to post News items in the YT NEWS section Yorkie News & Site Announcements - YorkieTalk.com Forums - Yorkshire Terrier Community There have been a lot of recent puppy mill busts in the last few weeks - including a 2nd one yesterday in southern Missouri - that also included yorkies & a Tiger!! There is also info about legislation, etc in the News section - I would highly recommend reading this section of YT if you don't do so on a regular basis. I find it wonderful when people let us know what is going on near them or things they learn about across the country/world |
You may have been discussing it all week but I didn't have a clue about it until today. I'll have Adm. close this one. |

Sometimes multiple threads do help educate people - because I'm sure plenty of people didn't see the thread in the news section |
This is so sad, Missouri has more puppy mills than any other state and I hope they can do something about kennel conditions. When I read than some of the dogs had the bones in their legs die because the hair was so matted around their legs, it really upset me. I'm not sure from other bills I've read that there are any minimum grooming standards, and I hope this will be entered in some of the new bills. It's great that more people are becoming aware of the problems, and I appreciate the work Oprah is doing in keeping the public interested, and involved. Yorkietalk has a social club called Yorkies against puppy mills or YAP, if anyone is interesting in joining, just click on the link in my signature. |
