Wanted: Yorkie for disabled female in RI Hi, I am new to this forum, I just got approved this morning! I have been looking for over a year and I have been looking for a little yorkie. I am disabled. I have Crohn's disease, which is inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract (GI). You can go to ccfa.org for more info on the illness. Needless to say, it is a debilitating illness for some. Some people who have it can live normal lives. I just spent 50 days in the hospital and recently had abdominal surgery. Anywho, since I am home all of the time, I would like a mini-companion, such as a Yorkie!!! I have been doing tons and tons of research and found that these dogs would suit my needs and be the loving companions that I need. Unfortunately, since I am on disability (I am 24-years-old), I can't afford the prices of these precious animals. I have tried looking for groups that donate Yorkies to the disabled, but I didn't find anything. I was wondering if there is a breeder or a rescue or anything out there that is willing to give a young (well not too young, lol) female a Yorkie for free (preferably) or next to nothing. I am willing to pick it up if it is in the New England area. I will be FOREVER grateful if someone could help me out. Remember, your puppy or dog will be treated as if they were my own child. I will give it all the love, care, respect and guidance that it needs. I will be there for the Yorkie, no matter what! This would be a dream come true for me. I don't like asking for charity, but I figured that there are lots of Yorkies out there; maybe someone can do a good deed for me. It would make you feel great and it would be an awesome 'pick me up' for me. Now, I am sure you are wondering how the vet bills, food, toys, etc., will be paid for: I have a great family friend (who is a vet) , who has agreed to do everything I need for free (I just need to find a doggie first, Lol!). So, please, if you can help me or know someone who can please email me back at Keritanzi@gmail.com I hope you can find it in your heart to help me out! Thanks, Keri :):animal36:animal-pa |
Hi and welcome to YT. I'm sorry you have had to face such an illness, and especially at such a young age. I found the link below for a New England yorkie rescue. Even if they are not willing to give you a yorkie, maybe you could possibly foster one for them. Or perhaps, they have one in a price range you could afford.... or.... maybe they would work with you on the cost. Good luck on your search, and I hope you find that special yorkie for you to love! Good luck finding your new yorkie - that's got to be tough having Crohn's do you have someone to help you if you go into the hospital ?? (which I hope you don't !) ... the reason I asked is because Yorkies are very devoted little dogs.. you're located where I grew up - I miss Rhode Island ... I love it there..... |
Thanks Thanks for all of your advice. If I forstered a Yorkie, and someone adopted or rescuded it, I would be heartbroken. But I am working with a private breeded who is willing to work out something with me, next time they have pups, which could be up to 8 months. I would like something sooner. And yes, if I do go in the hospital (which I hope I never do again) my mother said she would take my pup for me, without a doubt! Thanks all for the Crohn's wishes. It's hard, but I deal pretty well with it. But of course, a cute lil Yorkie would make it much, much better!! Thanks! Keri :animal36:):animal-pa |

I am disabled too... And that was the reason why I was able to get my Yorkie puppy . I feel for you, and i know it is hard to be in the situation that your in. I ended up using my disability back pay to buy my Yorkie pup. Maybe your frined could help you find a wonderful Yorkie? Also, I know that there are groups out there that specificaly train service animals for people with disabilites. you might want to look into that. they are not Yorkie's but are trained to perform tasks. If you are having physical complications, then A service animal could help you retrieve certain items. You can, of course train a Dog yourself, but it takes a lot of time and experience. even though I am disabled too, I did have to pay for a yorkie puppy on my own, not ever thinking of turning to other resources. Perhaps one of your friends could help you out financially and make payment arrangements . I too have been in the hospital several times last year. It is A very big concern because You have to have someone to look after your Yorkie in case of an emergency. Please keep that in mind. |
