This is the girl that came in while my daughter was picking up Winston. Can anyone get this beautiful girl? My daughter said she had a name tag and an address. They could not locate the owners. (I guess they never found them)

Irving is about 3.5 hours from me here in OKC, I guess.... that wouldn't be a terrible drive.... 7 hours - give or take - round trip... not too bad... and certainly worth it to save a lil' YorkFace!

If the shelter will hold her for the rescue, and maybe we could get a little help with the fuel expense... (hate to ask that, but it's the first part of the month and with household expenses, monthly bills, etc... well, you know)... anyway I could go down on Friday and pick her up, then meet Angi here in OKC to deliver her if that would help at all...

The last one we got from that shelter they did not really want to let him go to Stephanie because he was going to rescue so whoever picks her up is "adopting" her ;)
Also.. if it absolutely comes down to it... Kelly is off on Monday & can go if we cant get this train going.... but we have faith... YT memebers have been VERY supportive of our efforts!!

The shelter did not really want to work with the rescue. They gave my daughter a hard time about it last time.

Okay... I was under the impression they worked with rescues... too bad that so many shelters could really care less whether these babies go to ANYONE or get put down.... :(

If there's anything I can do... I can certainly "adopt" her and get her to OKC for ya' if plans change.... whatever I can do to help...

It is VERY unfortunate that alot of shelters are like that. You would think they would be grateful someone is there to take them in & "free up space" as this is alot of times WHY they are pts.

I really don't understand this although I've heard it before. Why is it, does anyone know? I can't think of why "kill shelters" would have a problem with rescue, especially?!? :confused:

they often don't want to work with rescue because rescue wants the highly adoptable dogs. The ones they have waiting lists for.........small, cute little dogs! I work with a local resuce groups and we do work in conjunction with a shelter, but rarely do they need us to take any breed of small dog unless it has some health/behavior issues. (but lots of big dogs!! and cats!)

That still makes no sense to me.....if the dogs is to be PTS, what does it matter who adopts as long as the dog is being well taken care of and is altered before being placed.

any updates on this little girl?

It is really sad that they won't let rescue help all the time. I know many times we could do so much more than they are able to do!
Our rescue does the "adopt" them route sometimes as well just to get them into rescue.

I know this is really short notice but I just saw this. I am in Wichita Falls, TX. It is exactly two hours north of Irving (I drive there all the time.) I would be more than willing to bring her with us for the road trip. We are looking for a yorkie but would really like to be around a few more before we decide for sure. It would give us a great chance to see her. Feel free to touch base with me. We may be able to figure out how to meet someone tonight or tomorrow morning in Decatur and then go to OKC. We are actually going all the way to Branson, MO but have a two hour stop in OKC. Email me if you think we can figure it out.

We got that.... THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH... you are a doll.
We cannot pick her up until Monday & are working to find someone to be able to do that. Once we have someone lined up it is a RACE to the shelter... first come first serve :eek:
