They should never be considered disposable.. I have read a few posts on having to give up their yorkie's or other pets due to training issues or "parents" warning their child potty train or else? or not safe around small children, allergies etc.. I found this site that helps with issues of this nature, and if there are no solutions they offer alternatives to finding a good home. It Might just be helpful.. http://www.wonderpuppy.net/canwehelp/ |
I would NEVER give up my dogs. Even if I had kids, I would teach my children to be responsible and respect small dogs. I would never even CONSIDER moving to a place that does not allow pets. It's totally unthinkable on my part to ever part with my pets. It's just never going to happen. |

BIG Ditto!! my babies are my children!! I have read many posts on giving up their babies. So I thought maybe after they visited this site it would help change their minds! Im sure you have seen someone post a giveaway and we all jump in a say no don't do it! and we never hear what happened! did they find a home?? etc.. so I thought this might make a difference or an alternative other than just consider them that easily disposable. |
I could never either! If I ever do have children in the future, I will consider that human child my 2nd baby, LOL. Not 2nd most important, no no just 2nd like Sully is my "firstborn" etc. My uncle has a poodle that's 6yrs old and a 3yr old daughter that's their 2nd daughter, hehe. A friend of mine had 2 daschunds for years and years. They were her BABIES. They went everywhere with her and she swore she'd never get rid of them. Ever. But when she got married she stuck to her promise...but when her 1st baby was born, all of the sudden her daschunds were no longer important to her and were given to a rescue. How sad is that? She was SURE that would NEVER happen! It's heartbreaking! Those poor daschunds, she should have never gotten them in the 1st place if she was not going to be there for them no matter what. I guess it depends on whether you consider your dogs "family" or "just a pet" because we should never turn our backs on family members, no matter what. |

I am with you all 100%!!! I would NEVER under any circumstances give up Sammi...You will have to come at me with a tank!!! She is my life right now, she helped me through ALOT and for that I am in debt to her til the day she is no longer here...She is what I wake up to and what I fall asleep to... XoXoXoXo Fran |
In my honest opinion I believe that when you make a decision to bring a pet, be it whatever, you should take all the pro's and con's into account. This is not a decision that should be taken lightly. When a couple decides to have children there are usually preparations before this happens so people should do the same when they decide to bring a pet into the family. You are correct to say that they are not disposible. I would never consider to give up my Genie Girl no matter what, period... Please be responsible when you bring a pet home and try your best to always care and love them. The love and loyalty they will give you is inmense, please do the same for them. |

XoXoXo Fran and Sammi :) |
Ditto on all of your replies!!! I love my dogs too much to just give them away. If I ever have children this wouldn't even be considered. My dogs are my life, they are my children. My first child will actually be my third in my opinion and I know all of you feel the same way. I would die before I give them up. I don't care what the circumstances are. If you get a dog you should be ready, willing, and able to take care of it physically and emotionally!! |
Thank you for posting that. Some people lack the motivation to make things work. It's very sad... |
Check out the ad on Yorkies for sale on here! There's an incredible puppy on there that someone got for their 2 1/2 year old granddaughter, the girl loved the puppy so much and wanted one so bad, now that the puppy is a little older and more independent it is suddenly too hyper! The grandma now is looking for a new home for it, it's not what her granddaughter wants anymore. This puppy is the sister to Preslee and Lida Rose, both great little dogs and neither one overly hyper in any way! |
