Chloe is doing great! Emma and Milli went to play with her @ daycare on Friday. I heard they all got along wonderfully-they needed to sniff each other out and each find their place, but it seems they all understand each other :) Chloe was curious about me, and I think (?) maybe remembered me from a few days before because she came over to say hi and give kisses before I left with my two. She is a friendly furgirl-but a little shy, which is understandable. She's getting to know her new family and the "rules" there-and it's got to be a HUGE change to go from being an only dog to having several playmates of all sizes and breeds with you each day. But, I am sure she'll find comfort in knowing that she doesn't have to go home with anyone...she IS home :)
When Emma first started going to this sitter, she had a lab named Shadow who was the sweetest, most patient dog ever. She understood that she was the queen :) and that she would stay-everyone else would come and go, but she knew she was top dog. She was a big dog, but so gentle and kind to all of the others-big and small. She would protect the little ones, and play with the big ones. She accepted the young puppies and showed them the way, but wasn't afraid to put them in their place if they needed it :) Our sitter did all she could to give Shadow the best life she could, but Shadow was getting older and ill, and left her people and her dog friends last summer. I wasn't sure our sitter was ever going to have another dog of her own-her heart was always with Shadow. In time, I think her heart has healed-and she is ready to love and care for another dog of her own. When the story of Chloe came along, I received calls and emails about her, wondering if she'd yet found a home-and I knew that our sitter was wanting to adopt little Chloe. I think that this was a great match for both of them-they needed each other, they both have a lot of love to give, and and I hope they can bring each other the peace and happiness they both deserve. |
