Need adult/senior yorkie 4 grandma My grandpa died a few months ago and my grandma is lonely. She LOVES my yorkie, but I can't give him up because we are very attached. In fact my grandpa said once if I ever left him (let him stay with them for a few weeks until my next visit) he would die of heart break. So I am trying to find her a yorkie. She lives in Branson, Mo and I live in Overland park, KS, so either area would be fine. I would also be willing to drive to nearby areas to meet up with someone. I have emailed all the yorkie rescue groups, but I also thought someone might know of a slightly older yorkie in need of a home. Thank you, Brady's mommy |
i saw some on CMHS- Columbia, Mo!( few days ago) http://www.cmhspets.org/petlist.htm Also a mix in Kirksville, MO- just in the last week or so!! Seems like there was an adult on Dogster, also!In Mo. somewhere?? I hope you find one- usually adults are needing to be placed- this would be a great thing-X 2!! |
Have you gone to petfinders.com? Most reputable rescue's will not adopt to you because they want grandma to be part of the process and to be sure this is what she wants. They try really hard to match a dog to a person. Good Luck because there are many older dogs that need homes. |
Check out petfinders, so many on there need homes also alot in MO...Good Luck. |

Hi, I just PM'd you about a older Yorkie found in SC. PM me.......... |
a2Luckygirl posted the link to the Central Missouri Humane Society. I clicked on the link and oh my gosh, they have a little older Yorkie girl there named Teenie. She looks so....sweet. Good Luck in your search for your grandma. :goodluck: Let us know if she gets an older Yorkie. |
One more rescue site I found -in MO. through puppyfind! they have a few adult yorkies! @ females- and 1 little guy is just sooo cute! They seem like a good redcue- but check it out! I just thought of this post! http://www.puppyfind.com/redirect/?a..._id=eq23hvek3f |
I dont know if you have seen the other bulletins, but there is one is Charleston, SC. If you are willing to pay for a train or flight, I will bring him with me and meet you with him, so he wouldnt have to go under with baggage! I can drive to Charleston and get him. Please PM me! |
I would be leary of this "rescue". I was not impressed with their adoption contract. No reputable rescue would let a dog go that had not been neutered for one thing. No where on the application are they asking any questions of the people wanting to adopt. To many red flags for me especially when there are a lot of wonderful reputable rescues out there. Quote:

Hope you find a dog your Grand mother will enjoy! what ever you do- check it- for everyones sake- ask for some references!:) |
Good luck and I adopted Charlie last year (10 yo. from United Yorkie Rescue) after my 13 yo. Sophie died. Please remember that seniors normally have health issues, but are the sweetest pups and great for someone who is not active. Warmly, Deborah PS United Yorkie Rescue or any reputable rescue group is very selective with their pups. I saw in another thread to be careful, and I would also voice that opinion. |
We found my Grandma a dog! We found a 13 month old yorkie. The family that owned her had a son that developed allergies to her, so they had to find her a new home. We thought she would be perfect for my grandma, but she actually bonded with our 5 year old llhasa poo (Ebonie) so we let her take her home and we kept the yorkie, now named Bella. Even though we miss Ebonie it has worked out well. Bella and Brady get along perfectly. In fact I think she is in love! She follows Brady everywhere and constantly kisses on him. Its really cute, so everything worked out well. Thanks for all the help! :) |
Congradulations and that was so sweet to give your baby to your grand mother. |
