WARM winter coat recommendation? I want a good coat for my girl. Yes, I live in Texas, but last winter I myself got very cold, and Luma is so tiny. She was born in January so she has never experienced winter or snow. She gets cold very easily even just from the ac in our apartment, and I figure it probably will be cold enough come January, even with it being Texas, for a proper winter coat. I've seen lots of coats on different websites and in petsmart. What coats do you guys who live in northern places have? I want a coat, not the vest style coats, but one with sleeves and a hood. Cuteness isnt that important to me but it doesnt hurt lol! Does anyone have a good coat they can link me to, or have an old one they'd like to sell? Thanks! |

What size is Luma? I am going through Jada's things and putting them on Ebay....she has tons of things she has rarely worn...not sure about a coat with a hood though. |

She is between xs and s. Wears a size 2 bb if that helps in terms of girth! |

Aw...Luma is super long and tall, and skinny! Opposites! |

I've always been happy with the SimplyDog line... Walmart sells them, and the coats have always been inexpensive, cute & nice. BaxterBoo offers a lot, and good deals. RuffWear and Hurtta are true outdoor coats, but pricey. |

1 Attachment(s) We got our coats from Petco. They fit well and they have a little slit so the harness fits comfortably underneath and can still connect with the leash! We got a couple of different pink ones, and picked up a few coordinating blue ones for Brody! This is a pic last year of Sophia in one of hers. |

No specific recommendations, but one thing to think about is whether the dog is going to be moving much when she has the coat on. If you're thinking she'll just be carried or wandering around slowly in the cold, you probably want a coat that covers the back, belly and legs. And a hood would help. But if you want the coat for walks, comfort for the dog should be most important. Mine don't like walking in legged coats. They walk slowly and awkwardly, even after they get used to the coat. When I put on a fleece coat that just covers their backs, they move faster and generate their own heat. And I always keep them moving on walks. As for hoods on a walk, they never use them. Too awkward. (They do, however, make for cute pictures ;) ) If you're talking snow, look into some comfortable booties. I get lightweight fleece ones with an elastic velcro strap. It takes a little while for them to get used to them, but once they realize the snow isn't cold on their feet, they stay out a lot longer. |

We have found a ton of cute/warm coats at Wal-Mart. They are around $12 and are great for winter. I often layer a fleece underneath and my two stay nice and warm that way :) |
