Want to learn to make clothes I would like to learn to make/sew yorkie clothing, someone please teach me to understand patterns and do so! |
I sent you a PM... |
For me, I have some basic sewing skills. So, I found a simple coat at Wal-Mart and used it for a pattern - then made other coats from there. I believe there are some patterns available, too?? Good luck! :) |
I started by buying an outfit I like, laying it down on paper and tracing it. Then cutting it out and sewing it. The school of trial and error. Also I got a Simplicity Sewing Book, available at the fabric store. It has pictures and explanations of every seam, zipper, anything you may be asked to do in a pattern. Sometimes the patterns seem overwhelming if you look over the entire instruction page. Just break it down into one activity at a time. Don't put time pressure on yourself, if you make a mistake, get a seam ripper and remove what you did wrong. The good thing about sewing is you can rip it out and start over. If you get stuck do you have someone in your area that can show you what to do? good luck. Hope this helps a little. |
my granny sews quilts but not patterns, i'm sure she could help me though |
