Do I need a play pen or a gate to keep my Yorkie in the kitchen while at work. Thought of a play pen but now I am thinking of a gate. I would appreciate any opinions. Royce is six months old. Thanks, Bonnie |
HI and welcome to YT. Well, I would say that it depends on the area you wish him to be in. If your kitchen is puppy proof and there is nothing for him to get hurt with then you can leave him there with a gate. If your kitchen is large, then you might want to use a pen to restrict his movements (for potty training). I use a pen. They go in there at night to sleep but it is open during the daytime. Hope this helps some. |
I have used both the kitchen and a play pen and for me the playpen was easier especially when they were real young. |
Thanks so much - he has had full run of the apt. The kitchen is puppy proof but I would like to start restricting him in the kitchen for potty training purposes. Wanted something economical too. I have learned so much on this forum. Bonnie:) |
I got a gate at a yard sale for 3.00, and found an x pen on line very reasonable price. I used a gate in the bathroom when I was working. Wish I would of used a pen. When traveling I use a pen and I think it may of worked better if I introduced it earlier. Mia screams and crys for 20 minutes when I leave her. SPOILED! |
Have you considered a large crate? I only say this because Bella had a gate and she would climb it, which worried me more because she could hurt herself. I also put up a play area with a large cage puppy thing- and she would climb that also..... |
