Wanted: In Desperate Need of some sort of Playpen...Please help me!! Hello everyone....ok i am in DESPERATE need of finding Bailey a playpen and I know this my sound kinda of crazy but maybe if I can find one with a vented top just incase he get use to it and wants to jump out. The reason being is we have sold our home which DID NOT have ANY CARPET and we have a home under contract that is MOSTLY CARPET and its a very light color at that  well Bailey is not all that trained for me to trust him while I'm at work on very light colored carpet or just carpet PERIOD!! So while me and my husband are at work I need to put him in something he can be comfortable in with toys food and water......as far as the circular playpens I don't think there is much room in the house at all to put the circular pen at that is not underneath carpet.....does anyone know of any large size playpen thats the only thing I can think of is a playpen like a baby one that is off the ground but I would need a bigger one than that just to give Bailey more room. PLEASE HELP ME!! There is no way I can leave Bailey in his crate for 8 hours :( if I can't find a big playpen what about maybe a big big crate??? The Price is really not an option I just want Bailey to be comfortable. Thanks in Advance and sorry so long. |
While I am at work, I put Conner in a large cage. It has an opening in the front and one on the side. He has his bed, food, water, and some toys in it. It is really roomy and he loves it. The cage is his security whenever we are not home. We ordered casters for the cage (they lock) so that I can move it to wash the floor. Good luck in your new home. |
well congrats on the new house! im not sure how big the biggest crate is, but wouldnt one of those new playpens ( pack n play) be bigger than a crate? not sure how you would cover it though..good luck. |
Little Bit posted a link to a store that has everything under $20. They have one. http://www.collectionsetc.com/Item76172.aspx Hope this helps. |

What about a bathroom? Are they all carpeted too? If not it might have enough room for a bed, food, water, and in another corner a pee pad. Also I know someone that gets linoleum remnents (spelling) and puts them under the ex-pen to protect carpeting. |

I bought a 4x4 piece of plywood, and got a piece of vinyl to cover it and it fit perfectly inside an X pen. I got the xpen off of Ebay |

We use a kennel - one just big enough for him - for the "den effect". Coby loves it and runs in on his own when we're leaving. If you are concerned about the top (and I would be when home alone - if he would happen to somehoe work and/or jump his way to the top, it is a long way down) I like the large dog kennel idea..... he'd have the extra room that you're looking for but would be completely enclosed and safe (and so would your cabinets). Good luck - let us know what you finally decide on. |

If you really think your guy would be able to jump out somehow you could certainly create some type of top for it. Desiree & Eros |
Buy an x-pen at Dog.com only $38. Then buy an inexpensive plastic tablecloth for the floor, put a wee wee pad on one side, his sleeping area with a bed or blankets on the other side and his water and food in the middle, he'll be happy and he won't ruin your carpet. If you decide to do this PM me and I will give you a code for at least $5 off.;) |

I got it at target, but Walmart has it online ... 1 Attachment(s) I bought this one at Target for $39.99... so far Friday has not been able to jump out of it, but she is only 3.8 lbs and small so that may have something to do with it. Although it does seem she has springs on her back legs. I will say, however, that when I left a bowl of water there for her, she used it as a swimming pool ... so I kind of attached a drop bottle ... I have her bed on one end and a piddle pad on the other... she rips the piddle pad up each time .. I never really leave her there for longer than 3-4 hours .... I am hoping she calms down and sleeps while I am gone. Oh I also might recommend you get one of those plastic floor pads people use for computer chairs to put under the X-pen if you decide to go that route. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=5031425 try eBay ... but it is the shipping that makes it more expensive .... |
We bought a piece of rubber flooring from Home Depot and got two of the baby super yard xt's.. It worked great! |

Hi, I didn't read through all the posts so sorry if someone had already suggested this.... I used a playpen too, but when my puppies got bigger and needed more room I went and bought a PlayYard from Toys R Us and you can make it as big as you want, and in any shape that you want....and I went to Lowes and bought a piece of Vinal flooring (real cheap, like $25) and layed the peice over my carpet and set the play yard over it. Worked GREAT!!!! No harm done to the carpet and more room for puppies! Quote:

I had got a white gated play yard for Bailey but I ended up returning it to Wal-Mart because it was too bulky and it wasn't easy to fold up and put back up every day.......but I'm thinking would it be that much trouble if I would get a metal pen and put the vinyl bottom (or whatever type bottom) as some are suggesting, but will it be a lot of trouble for me to pick up everyday and I think the hassle would be more than I would want but I don't know................ I think I am going to go with the pet gear playpen though, thats is what I am leaning towards and it wouldn't be bad if I would keep it set up in a bedroom because it looks like a child's playpen so I think I am going to go with that that.. I measured our sofa from the seat of the sofa down and its 18-19'' and Bailey tries to hop onto the sofa but he can't and being that the height of the playpen is 26'' I think it will be ok for him and I am getting the large size one 36lengthx36width so I think that would give him enough room.....I guess I will see when it comes it. :) WISH ME LUCK YOU GUYS!!! Thank you so much for all of ya'll opinion....I just hope I made the right decision :) |
Update Update Update!!!! 4 Attachment(s) GREAT NEWS!! Bailey's playpen came in tonight and he loves it!!! I'm starting to think is there anything that Bailey doesn't like? But all I can say about this product is I ABSOLUTLEY LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE IT, it is PERFECT!!! I was kinda afraid on ordering one because I didn't think it was going to be big enough but it is, its the purfect size. As you all know that I purchased this playpen for our new home because it was mostly carpet unlike the home we have now but anyway I'm glad that I can let Bailey get use to the playpen in our old home first :) Oh yea did I mention that it comes with a vinyl type liner plus another pad which you can see lined on the bottom which is WATERPROOF (I wonder how we figured that one out )so its double the protection......I may still add more just so it can be more comfty :) |
