Raised food bowl height??
 
I have been looking at several raised food/water bowl combos. The ones that are raised above the floor. I have noticed that they come in different heights like 4inches, 6inches, etc... for small dogs. Does anyone own one of these? Did you like them? Which height is best? I like the wooden ones I've seen with the removable stainless steel bowls, but I wonder if chewing is an issue with the wooden ones and if you need to worry about the finish being toxic?

I have wrought iron one's for my two. I chose the single bowl style because somebody around here (Chan) is a backwasher...lol!

Phoebi has a fit if there's kibble crumbs in her water so I bought two and keep them a few feet apart. This way Chan's crumbs fall off before he takes a drink.

I have the smallest size...it's 5" off the ground.

Oh...forgot to say...I did have a wooden one when it was just Phoebi. Over that year it did get a little "icky" from her water dribbles.

I hadn't seen those, thanks! I thought the stand would help because Gizzy is always knocking his bowl over, but he is a littlle (okay a lot) picky about things in his water. I have to change the water three or so times a day because he won't drink if it has the slightest kibble crumb. Thanks, that gives me some more to think about. :)

Thanks for that! I like the wrought iron ones, but this one is marked down to $9.99 and it looks like the one I was originally looking at. I just can't figure out the height. Hummm..still thinking about the separate ones though.

Buddy's is a double dish about 4" off the floor. It's plastic however I put
ceramic bowls inside for easy cleaning. The plastic one was the only one
that matched my kitchen:D hence the ceramic insert bowls.

I had to buy them for my 2 pound Chihuahua. She's blind, old and now so thin that she's top heavy and kept falling face first in her bowl. It's wrought Iron with two stainless steel bowls, but I use tiny glass desert bowls and just put the food and water in those and place inside the metal bowls. My Yorkies still eat from their bowls on the floor.

I really like the signle bowl style and the wrought iron stands. Will you share where you got them?

I purchased this for Izzie and it's the perfect height for her....Got it off ebay, the seller's name is Alistarr41 and he does excellent work. I haven't had any problem with Izzie wanting to chew on the wood (thank goodness) as she is going through major teething right now :eek: He makes all different sizes and fast shipping...customizing with their name is free :D :D Hope this helps !!!!

I think that's exactly the one I was thinking about. Which height did you get? The lowest I saw wass 4inches...?? Good to know that he doesn't chew it. Gizzy is chewing on everything these days also so I have to consider that when making purchases. Did you get to pick your finish? Which one is that? It looks great by the way. :)
