Pish Pad I found an alternative product for litter-training/kennel liner,wee-wee pads that shred and I am really pleased with it so far, so I thought I would share. It's called pish pad and was developed by a maltese breeder. you can cut it with a scissor and it doesn't fray, and it's machine washable! Lightweight. absorbent and so far nobody here has been able to chew it up or scratch it apart. Their website is www.pishpad.com for more info, but you have to call them to order it. I'm not getting paid to endorse it, though that would be cool, it's just making my life easier with keeping things as clean as I like them to be.-Stacy |
sounds good but it's kind of expensive? I have at least 8 different pee pads around my house. Over time I spose it would pay for itself but quite an expense to start with... |
I guess in ways I'm lucky. I only have to scoop the poop, before I mow the grass. When Texas DOES get rain, the poo and pee just washes away. |
I spent $170.00 for the big roll 1yd x 10yds and would have paid double now that I'm using it. Don't anybody tell them, they'll raise prices for sure. I've lined the playpens and crates and had plenty to have triple for each, so when one is in the wash there's another handy. Cut down on my trash by a mountain, especially with puppies in the house. |
Sylvan, Jeffers has OOPs Pads 30 X 60" for $28.84. When I asked they said they are 1/2" thick, washable, not dryable because they're made from rayon. I wouldn't think to put them into dryer b/c they are made of rayon, so you'd need to air dry. I would imagine you'd need back up in case it rains, lol. I wonder if its similar to the Pish Pad you mentioned. Also, I wonder if you can cut them to size, or would they shred? Let me know what you think? ~Bella, General Patton, & Maria~ |
The pish pad is super thin and you can cut it with scissors and doesn't fray(even when puppies are chewing on the corners they got a hold of). That's why I bought the big roll and yep, have alternates for the ones hangin' on the line. You can put them in the dryer, but the liner on the back seems to hold in the moisture at the folds, so I just hang 'em out. |
Yours sounds thinner than the one they described at 1/2", but otherwise similar. Thanks for suggesting. I might try a small 30 X 60 piece and see how I like it. Does it clean nicely in the washer? Do you use regular detergent? ~Bella, General Patton, & Maria~ |
So far I'm really pleased with how clean it comes out and yes, Gain detergent. The plastic(or whatever it is) on the backing sometimes keeps the moisture from spinning out if it gets folded up, so sometimes I gotta wring 'em out a bit. |
Stacy, Thanks for your input! I am going to try a small 30 X60 piece and see how I like it. ~Bella, General Patton, & Maria~ |
Very interesting product! |
Stacy: Do they hold quite a bit of moisture? I am trying to decide whether to go with the pish pad or try the regular washable ones. I am using the disposable ones now and when my little guy pees close to the edge of the pad, half the pee goes under the pad and onto the floor. I tried to buy one of those pad holders but then he wouldn't use the pad at all. I also tried to put his toys around the edges as one of the threads here suggested but he just took them all off. Do you think the pish pad would absorb better and help with this problem? |
Pish Pads look like an incredible product! Thanks for the information :) |
if they pee right on the very edge you may get some under, but it does seem to absorb almost instantly if they have any aim at all. They are expensive, but in the long run a much better bargain than disposable....which mine seem to view as a cool shredding toy to make snow with. I have been using these for more than a year and they get washed a few times a week and are still holding up well. My favorite use of these is in the whelping box....no more worrying about mama burying pups in the bedding....and good traction for tiny little legs trying out first wobbly steps. I haven't tried the regular washable ones so I can't offer a comparison. |
