disinfectant for your furniture(house) Hi everyone, i need a little advice on something to use to disinfect our house. Our puppy passed away lastweek from kennelcough pnuemonia(bordetella) which is very contagious to other dogs. We will be getting another puppy at some point but i want my house to be disinfected everywhere first. We are having the carpets professionally cleaned but i dont know what to use on the carpets and tile floors. I have thrown all his toys, brushes, leashes, bowls, all anything he had his mouth on already(VERY SAD:( ) i didnt know if lysol would work good enough of if their is something that anyone knows about that is better?? :( we are lost without or chewy! |
That is so sad, im so sorry! My dog had parvo when she was about 3 months old. After I brought her home I had to disenfect everything as well. All I did really was bleach all of her toys and used part bleach/water to mop the floors, counters, lower cabinets, her cage etc. Also, washed all linens she was in contact with like my bed skirt, bedding, curtains, etc. Then for my carpets I just deep cleaned them and sprayed a light mist of lysol. And the same for my couches. I hear there are cleaners over the counter you can buy, I forget the names of them though, sorry. I know you can't really just bleach everything, that's impossible b/c it'd stain. Just ask your vet or research online im sure you'll find something. Again, so sorry and can't wait for you to get a new puppy to share with us! |
The kennel cough thing may need more than bleach I really don't know but i suggest you be safe and ask your vet what precautions you need to take before bringing another dog into your home. |
Im so sorry to hear about ur loss, u and ur family must be devastated :( we will keep u in our thoughts! If u have a steam cleaning machine u could use that to clean ( disinfect ) ur whole house, another good disinfectant i find is dettol! |
I'm sorry about your loss. My neighbors across the street had a Chi puppy with Bortadello AND Parvo and their vet told them to wait 6 months before they got another puppy just to be sure the disease had run its course though the house. |
I'm just so sorry for you. |
I am sorry to hear about your loss! My prayers are with you. |
