Nylabone Safety? So I know there has been a lot of debate on the safety of nylabones. I just bought a couple today that are called Healthy Edibles, All Natural Nylabones. They contain no plastic. It says on the packaging that they are edible and digestitble with no floating words such as "should be digestible". Has anyone tried these? Sarge is going crazy for it! |
I give cody and gracey those and they love them the only thing that's bad is that they are gone too quickly |
We've tried them...I don't use them very often because Emma is such a power chewer that she will go through a whole one in an hour or less! :D We have to stick with the hard plastic ones or real bones if we want them to last. She did have a strawberry banana one once, and it actually kind of smelled good! |
I bought them,or rather my DH did and they went nuts over them, devored then in no time.I was really not comfortable with it so I didn't get them anymore. |

We never gave the rubber nylabones, but we have the edible ones and they are great. Mojo isn't a chewer, so he can carry one (and hide it) for several days! I have not had any problems with them and the vet actually approved them for Mojo....which is hard to get approved treats for his sensitive tummy! |
don't Nylabone's containt some form of wheat? |
I've used them too and agree that they disappear way too quickly for the cost - at least with my dogs. My dogs do love them, though. |
We still use the hard plastic ones, because they're the only ones that last. |
I use the hard plastic ones for Rockie since he is teething. I only let him have them when myself or daughter is at home. I recently brought him a plastic ring for his teething, he loves it. :yorkiesar |
I have used both types in the past, and as long as I am in the room with my pup I would let her chew on it. Some of the plastic ones like the ones with the little knobs on them, break off and the pups eat them, so I try not to give those. They are usually blue. |
This weekend, I gave Trouble, my 4.5 month old male puppy, a smooth, light blue color, super hard plastic nylabone called "my little prince", or something like that. I figured that it was such hard smooth plastic that there was no way trouble could break any part of it off. I was wrong. After three days of monitored chewing, I noticed one of the ends of the bone was missing a massive chunk (way bigger than rice size, like the product claims). Imagine you cut off your pinky finger from the base of your nail...that's how big the piece of hard plastic is. Nylabones suck @$$. Luckily, Trouble doesn't munch on or swallow hard, bitesize pieces of glass or plastic he finds in the carpet or on the floor. I just wish he didn't hate the plastic taste of his kong and other squeeky toys. His favorite is the rope bones. |
We are big fans of Nylabones. We like the gummy/flexible ones. Barney loves the flexible dinosaurs, corn-on-the-cob, BBQ ribs, blue dental bones, and the gummy bones that have chicken flavor. We've been using them since Barney was a pup and never had problems. Teddy also has taken a liking to them. Daisy does not chew very often (she is too scared of Barney - he only lets Teddy chew, it's weird.) |
I love the Nylabones! Kasha can't seem to chew through it yet (still with her milk teeth) but she tries. I'm all for them. |
