I need something for an intense chewer My boy, Copper, is a major chewer...and I mean major. He has managed to rip or break apart all of his toys in one way or another....we have tried the kong, nylabones, etc and he seems to get through all of them. I was wondering if anyone has really tried a non-destructable toy and has been successful. We really need to find somethig that works as it gets expensive having to replace toys so often.....thanks for any and all suggestions. |

I've got a chewer too, nothing lasts! Bully Sticks are the best, they take forever. I bought a 3 pack in july and i'm just now on the last one!!! |
Molly just started bad chewing habit, she has chewed a corner of my wooden stand that was a gift from my sisters:( they have several chew toys, I guess its the terrible 6mth phase, my sister told me to put deoderant on the wood to keep her away, anyone hear of that one before? I dont want to do it if she gets that yukkie taste in her mouth, bully sticks are great, but man do they stink:rolleyes: good luck to you;) |
I've heard the bully sticks are good for chewers, and petedge.com has some items that are suppose to be hard to chew. You can ask them before you purchase an item exactly where it was made. |
I need something for an intense chewer I have one also and the only thing that she can't chew up are the everlasting treat balls. A lot of people are afraid of them because they were made in China but Tricksie has been using them for a year. Check out their web site, made me satisfied. www.triplecrowndogs.com/info/news.htm?story=46. |
This is what an all natural bone looks like (http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96349) This is the only thing I can recommend because I give Buddy nothing that is ingestable. He is an aggressive chewer and has been since I got him. This does it for him. |
Sarge likes free stuff to chew on, toys...Not-so-much. I got him a set of cheap plastic shower rings and he LOVES them. I dangle them on his tail to tease him. haha. Inexpensive AND enjoyable. And they come in a pack of 12...thats long lasting. |

They can tear up the inside of his stomach and intestines just like a nylabone can. |
I need something for an intense chewer I know that my yorkie would chew them up and swallow them in a minute. Don't think that is a safe toy. Go to www.triplecrowndogs.com/info/news.htm?story=46. This is the only toy that Tricksie can not eat. |
Ok you guys.............for all that have hard-core chewers then I have the perfect answer for you. A toy they CANNOT chew up.........promise!! I get this toy for my sons big dog, Seamus, every Christmas. He never can chew them up, but he manages to lose them outside sometime. :D Here is his picture, and also the Petedge site to buy this or you can get it at Petsmart and Petco. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...Aaronme023.jpg http://health.petedge.com/Durable-De...CategoryId=312 |
I forgot to mention..........get the durable, NOT the flexible. ;) |
I suppose Sarge isn't a "intense chewer" yet, in fact, I don't think he has destroyed anything yet... Maybe he's too young (10 weeks)? Or maybe I got lucky... |

I ordered that from Foster/Smith and when it came it was the same plastic as the regular nylabone. I know it's for the aggressive chewers, which is why I ordered it, however, I would not give it to my dog because of the fragments that come off when chewed. Package states these fragments are the size of a grain of rice and SHOULD PASS. Well when they don't the settle in the lower intestines and tear up the lining of the stomach and lower intestines. They are like little slivers of glass. Giving it to a much larger dog I could see it being ok but a little dog you just might be asking for trouble. |
chewy things I have 2 yorkies that looove to chew. I give them Merrick flossies, they are curly. I also let them have the sticks. These are tendons, I have been told they are 100% safe. I recently have used the porky puffs from fufufashions.com. The furbabies look very relaxed and content to chew away on these things. Just sharing. |

I only mentioned it because Buddy was hospitalized for 4 days possibly due to the nylabone fragments in his lower intestines. It tells you on the back of the package that fragments come off the size of a grain of rice, "AND SHOULD PASS". They are covering their butts by putting this on the package. My vet said not to give him nylabones at all. I am just passing on the info I have. Not all dogs react the same way. I only know what I went through regarding Nylabones. Just passing along what we went went through. Bleeding internally was frightening and if I can prevent someone else from making the same mistake I did I feel better knowing at least I tried. |

And VERY much appreciated for sure. Have you noticed it's gotten to the point where no chew or toy is safe anymore? I have nylabones all over the place for mine and my sons dogs. Never a problem with them. I hope the makers of these products are notified each and every time there is a problem so something can be perfected. Your absolutely right! The manufacturer's don't care what happens. They make sure and put a little tiny notice on the back to protect their own butts if something should happen. I went nuts looking for something for him to chew on. I had every single nylabone, even a chocolate one for him to chew on. I never imagined anything like what happened, could happen. It was sold as a dog toy! I now believe NOTHING on the packages. If it is not natural I don't buy it. I use only the natural bones for his chewing. He has gotten use to them after a couple of weeks of nothing else to chew on. Better safe than sorry. |

my girls LOVE these! My girls LOVE these things and they last FOREVER!!! THey are also all pork so very digestible. No rawhide, which can upset tummies and is hard to digest. They come in all sizes and are WONDERFUL to keep the little chewers busy for hours!! :) Here is the link to them: http://www.trilogyonline.com/Trilogy...lname=40049602 The porky puffs are great too but my girls go through them very fast. They are just now stocking the tiny bones again!! :D HUGS! XOXOXO Linda & PAK |

Penny destroys everything except Kongs and Nylabone Durables. I recommend both! Oh, and there's this thing as well: Nylabone Double Action Chew. |
Mine are starting to break their toys too! |
