Automatic Water Bowls? Does anyone use these? If so what are the pros and cons? Thanks |
i had one when i was watching my sister's cat for two years. It was great. Morgan loved it too and drank more water then usual because i think she liked to play in it. |
I never used one, but would like to have one. |
I use one and I like it ... have to clean it daily but at least if you forget, the dogs do not get dehydrated .... http://cgi.ebay.com/Pet-Mate-Le-Bist...QQcmdZViewItem |
I saw cute pink one at Walmart that I thought about getting. Thanks for the replies. |

PetCo has them for about 17-20$ (the gallon size) ... try them first .... this one on eBay is way overpriced, when you add in the S&H. I paid less and I got white but sent my friend a pink one and she loves it .... Have fun!! |
I have one of the filter ones. I bought the small size when I had only my cat. The small one runs out of water all the time now that I have Aurora as well. My ex boyfriend tells me, its time to refill the water....the little sponges drank it all again. My mom's yorkies drank more water while they were visiting as well. I had one that had a bottle that attached to the dish before but we like the filter one much better, since both tried to cover their food and water dishes. |
I had one of the plastic ones that Petco sells. I originally liked it because I didn't have to worry about running out of water, but I found the water in the dish got dirty every day and had to be cleaned anyway. And then I found out that plastic doesn't clean as easily. I gave up on it. |
the gallon size is approx $21.95 1 Attachment(s) [URL="[COLOR="Blue"]http://www.partipoodlepetsupplies.com/leauwa.html"] here are some good choices ... I prefer the gallon size. Yes, the bowl part (not the gallon filler uppper) needs to be cleaned daily (or every other day at the least) to prevent cruddy build up ... but even in the heat, there is always enough water for both dogs for 2 or more days ... so if you do forget, there is no reason to worry. And they have this new microban for antimicrobial protection against bacteria, mold, and mildew http://javascript%3cb%3e%3c/b%3E:CaricaFoto%28%27http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/partipoodleshopping_1966_85567654%27,%27LeBistro%2 0Automatic%20Waterers%27,%27http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/partipoodleshopping_1966_85581223%27,%27625%27,%27 668%27%29"]http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c..._1961_71636958 http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c...hopping_1966_0 http://us.st1.yimg.com/store1.yimg.c.../trans_1x1.gif LeBistro Automatic Waterers Fresh Water is Always Available with Le Bistro Automatic Waterers Le Bistro Automatic Waterers are specially designed to provide a steady flow of water for up to seven days. Heres the thread link: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92118 |
i use one for my pups |
My dogs food and water dishes are elevated which I like much better. |
Thank you all so much. I love that Drinkwell fountain. That is so cool but I can't really afford one like that and I can just imagine her playing in it. LOL:D I will show it to hubby anyway just to see what he says. Monday The one you recommend looks like the one I saw. I didn't look at it close but I will check it out better before buying it. I don't mind cleaning the bowl once a day. I find myself refilling her bowl 2 or 3 times a day and I feel terrible when I see her bowl empty. I have went pink crazy so she will probably be getting pink. Thanks for your help.:) |
I keep reading where most of the dogs drink enough water that the water bowl is often empty. Since my two don't even drink half a small metal bowl of water a day, it's because they are on home cooked diet. Maybe there is a big difference with moisture?? |
