Fighting Fleas without Chemicals 2 Attachment(s) The more I've read up on using things like Advantix and Frontline, the less I wanted to subject my babies to them every thirty days. Plus, I don't think they work as well as the should for the $80 I spend each month to treat them all. So when a friend of mine sent me a link to this site http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/default.aspx I decided to try out a couple of their products. There are user reviews on the site and many products have negative reviews so I figured I could trust that the reviews were for real...I searched for flea/tic products with all positive reviews and this is what I came up with: Brewers Yeast and Garlic TabsAttachment 142268 And herbal Flea Shampoo/ConditionerAttachment 142269 Well, its been a few weeks and still no fleas. I should add that we've been fighting fleas on and off all summer. The tablets are taken by all three of my dogs like they are treats (still haven't gotten any into Fun Kitty, so I'm searching for a solution for that) and the shampoo and conditioner do a great job and smell really clean and good. (not to fleas I guess). Now I'm getting ready to search the site for something that will help stop Ginger's chewing so I can get her out of this cycle of Benedryl all summer long. |
Ive posted several times this year about this , so I sound like a broken record, but just by accident, when I started cooking for Lillybelle after the recall-the recipe I was using called for adding fresh chopped garlic--I havent used Advantix one time since...no sign of fleas..at all!!! She rings her bell to go out numerous times a day, rolls around in the grass, we sit outside in the evening (unless its over 100 degrees)...still no fleas!! |

Ok, I've read on this board that too much garlic isn't good for our dogs. How much is safe to give them???? |
I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it says it on the bottle. |

I did find many examples on "other" forums of people stating they had fed all of their dogs garlic for many years without problem. In reality, I don't think there has been much scientific research into the effect of garlic for good or bad, so all evidence is anecdotal. |

I know that some kibble has garlic in it. So if you are feeding it to them in the kibble, then giving them tablets.... I just wonder. I would imagine fresh garlic would be the best but do they eat it if it is mixed with other food? Anyone know???? |
Garlic  Thanks for the information....and I have always heard that if you sprinkle garlic powder on their food they love it...I do that and also give them some fresh garlic...:) |
Thank You I have been using Revolution on Charlie since April, and not pleased about the chemicals in his body either. Plan on visiting the website, and researching the products. Someone also gave a recipe (searching for it now) to spray on the pups before and after their walks. The other big problem is if they infest your carpet...makes me itch to think about fleas. |

Crossing fingers because I don't have them in my carpet or on Charlie. |
Just stoppin' by to report that we still have no fleas! |
That's great!! :) |
You don't even need to buy those garlic yeast tablets or the herbal shampoo to keep fleas off. Just add fresh garlic to the food and you can either make up the Healthy Powder that's in Dr. Pitcairn's book or just sprinkle the nutritional brewer's yeast, that the recipe calls for, over the food. You can also make your own insect-repellent shampoo by adding either oil of rosemary, pennyroyal or eucalptus to a 16 oz. natural shampoo or liquid castile soap. You can even make the last rinse with vinegar and water. |
