D-ring location on walking harness Hi Yorkietalk, I am a newbie to the forum and so happy to be here. I am the proud new owner of a 4 month old Yorkie girl named Bella. I've been reading quite a bit on the different forums on diet, grooming, etc. and have seen a lot of info. on harnesses. My question is this......I just received the Puppia Mesh Harness which slips over Bella's head (which she hates) and am thinking that the fabric on her chest actually covers some of her neck. Is there a spot where the fabric should end and NOT sit so high in the front? Also, where is the best location for the D-ring. There's a Puppia Vest where the D-ring is behind the neck (again, I think it may be too high). Any suggestions would be really appreciated as I'm a new puppy owner and definitely want my little girl to be safe!! Right now she's only 3.2 lbs! Thanks so much, Tara |
The D ring is usually at the bottom of the harness, so I'd say if it's around her neck it isn't right. |
Oh yes and welcome to the forum.;) |
Thanks so much!!!! I have been speaking with Chattiesmom and will be purchasing a few of her silk harnesses, but don't know whether I should get rid of the Puppia one I have already? |
D-ring location on walking harness This may sound stupid, but is the D-ring the connection for the leash? If so, our harness has it on the top and it is causing an iritation on the back of the neck (it is not tight). It may be a result of scratching. Can't picture a leash connection any place else..?? Whatcha think?? |
I like the Puppia mesh harnesses ... I have the Puppia mesh harness for both Monday and Friday and I love it ... Friday is younger (9 months) and accepts the harness going over her head, Monday being almost 5 years old, is not used to it, but she is learning ... I have found these to be great!!! I do not think they pull on the trachea at all ... I use XS for both girls (they each weigh under 5 lbs) ... neither of the girls 'pull' as they walk .... But all dogs are different, so go with your gut feeling ... just throwing my 2¢ in .... |
I make all mine in the same area as the chest strap (just above). From personal experiance on a few heavy pullers, if the ring is to high it will apply pressure on the tracha. I think if your little one is a "perfect walker" their is no problems with the others though. Just anothr one of those Personal Preferance things :) Everyone is different! Best of luck finding the perfect one for you! |
