Has anyone had problems with velcro harnesses? I am getting ready to order a couple of harnesses but can not make up my mind whether I want the buckle or velcro. DH says that the velcro is stronger than I think. I am just a little concerned that somehow our babies could break through it. Anyone have this happen? Would you recommend the velcro or buckle? The buckle is underneath, so also currious if this would be uncomfy for them if they were to lay down to have that buckle there. |
I guess it would depend on the velcro - but I use extra heavy industrial strength (as do most clothing makers on YT) and it is very difficult for me to open up. I use harnesses not only for walks, but for tethering into the car seat and bike basket. I have never had velcro come undone!! |
I like the strong velcro. |
The velcro used by all the members here i have ordered from is very strong. I can pick morgan up by the d-ring on the harness and nothing comes apart. In fact its really good when walking and you have to pick them up in a flash. |

velcro works great. my problem with it is my york is scared of the sound it makes. |
3 Attachment(s) My harnesses are made with sturdy industrial strength side release buckles and they close either on top or on the side, not at the tummy. That makes them very comfy for the fur baby and easy to put on for their moms (and dads of course!!!) http://pocomutt.com/HARNESSDESING.aspx |
I make harnesses and use the heavy duty industrial strength velcro. I've picked up my 7.5 lb girl by the leash attached to the dring and it has never even started to come undone. I think the main thing to look for when getting velcro harnesses, is that there is a lot of velcro used, and that it's good quality velcro, and that the dring is securely sewn. I even have a 12.5 girl who wears my velcro harnesses and she's a puller. I've never had any issues with it, and I heavily tested it with a back up just in case! I am so paranoid :) |
I make mine with velco, what size do you need? I have a few that I never sold . I would send you one on the house. That way you can see if you like the velcro. It isn't anything fancy.Just let me know. |
All my pups have harnesses--3# to 12#. I never had one break loose from their harnesses with velcro. |
i need to get the velcro. It is a scene to get stewart into his buckle harness i think velcro would be better I am going to look for that today. :) |
Velcro.....ouchie.... Most of the clothes Widget has have velcro but lately it seems her fur is sticking to the velcro, besides it hard to loosen the hair once its stuck, so thinking about using those buckle closures instead..... Am I doing something wrong here? |
I use velcro harnesses on both my pups and they have not gotten out of them yet. But The do tend to stick in my pups hair which is why I am now looking for a new harness for both. I don't like feeling like I am pulling out their hair every time I take it off them. |
I too have never had an issue with velcro and my girl is a big time puller. Even attached to car seat harness, she has never 'gotten out' of her harness. |
