Kong? I just wonder if Kong is good for our furbabies?? I just worry I might feeding her too much treat?? I would consider Kong as a treat right?? I am thinking about buying dental stick and put stuff on it?? Or one of those Kong that you could put treat in it?? How does it work really?? |
Here is a great way to give a Kong without over-feeding treats. Give your dog part of her kibble and put the other rest in the Kong. Put some natural peanut butter inside and put it in the freezer for a little while. Then give it to her. She's just eating her kibble, but it will take her a while to get it out! We like "puzzle toys" and keep many of them in the freezer. We fill them with yogurt, cream cheese, peanut butter, bananas, kibble, pumpkin and more. Sometimes I put a dry treat in them - when you do that wedge it in there really good so they have to lick at it for hours. If they have too much trouble and give up after a while I go help them loosen the treat. |
My two are Kong experts! We use Kong stuffin, and sometimes freeze bananas and water in them, and plug the hole with peanut butter! |
Lacy has a little kong and I'll fill it with Easy Cheese sometimes. She will lick and lick until she gets it all out. I tried freezing it once with peanut butter but she wasn't as crazy about the peanut butter as the cheese. Maybe I'll try freezing it again with the cheese in there. |
Ok, I might sound dumb. But which kind of Kong do you use to do that (one you put kibble or "treat" in it)? do you mind to show me the picture of it?? So, i know which kind to buy. Thanks again!!!:D I am sure Chloe can't wait to have it!!!! |
I plugged My old labradoodle Buddy's with dry food and then put cheese at either end- put it in the microwave for a few seconds, and then run the kong under cold water so that the cheese was cool but still melted, and he'd chew and chew at it so the cheese came out :P He was alot bigger than a yorkie and had strong teeth (about the size of a standard poodle) |
I put peanut butter in mine. Mine for some reason don't like the stick that it comes with. |
Sukoshi has the puppy kong, and she has never been interested in it. I've tried stuffing it with the puppy Ziggies, and she'll eat those, but she stops when she gets to the rubber Kong portion. Maybe a silly question, but for those of you filling it with stuff, doesn't it make a mess and get all over your carpet/floor? I'd like to try that to see if she'd take more interest, but I'm afraid I'd have peanut butter smeared everywhere! |
Mine never made a mess anywhere- and i used melted cheese, peanut butter, and just normal lunch meat. |

The second time I did it, I froze it. Problem solved- it couldn't splatter as it bounced because it was too hard. Paddington didn't enjoy it as much, but I think it is a fair trade for not having peanut butter splatters all over the house! -O |
