hide a squirrel Well, I finally broke down and ordered one of these for my girls. I opened the box and there were only two squirrels in it and the stitching was coming apart on them and on the tree. :( The inside of the tree was sewn so badly... I could have done a better job and I don't even sew! I contacted the company and they contacted the manufacturer and they are sending me a replacement. Those little squirrels sure are cute! Anyone else have one that was poorly made? |
I am so sorry! atleast they are sending you a replacement! My girls don't have one of these yet. |
mine was perfect....I actually noticed how good the quality of it was. hopefully your new one will be there soon! |
I'm sorry, I'm glad they are giving you a replacement. Jake has had his for about a month now, and it's still in great shape. In fact, I threw it all in the washer, and it all washed up really nice! I hope you get the replacement soon! I really love this toy, and so does Jake! |
It pays to contact the company if you are unsatisfied with their product. Sounds like like they are going to do the right thing for you. My :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork just love the squirells. The tree is useless though. You won't be sorry you bought one. Enjoy!!! |
Can someone please post a picture of this thing??? I keep reading about this toy on YT....okay, now its time for a pic:) |

:yelrotflm The way that link describes getting the dog used to the toy really gave me a chuckle. :D I took it out of the box, put the squirrels inside, squeaked them and set it on the floor and the dogs had the squirrels out in about 3 seconds and were running around with them and the tree! LOL |
[QUOTE=LoveMyJake;1278947]http://www.wiggle-n-waggle.com/servl...FSm3hgodCUcVaQ That link shows a good picture of it. It really is a great toy!! They also have Hide-A-Bee and Hide-A-Bird:)[/QUOTE WOW $16.00 ----I paid less than $10.00 at www.dog.com |

We have one and it was perfect. We didn't see anything wrong with it. Mojo only likes the little squirrels...he only likes small toys.....I don't think he has used the tree, as it is supposed to be used though. |
Mine was fine. Atleast it was easy enough for them to send you a new one:) |
1 Attachment(s) Eddie loves his, and we had no problem with the quality of the one we ordered through tinkerbellscloset.com Of course, after a month or so, he's down to one squirrel. I think he buried the other two in our planters. |
What does the toy do? |
It is a puzzle type of toy. It is a stuffed tree stump open in the center with 3 holes. You stuff the squirrels in there and it is a game for your Yorkie to get them out. I first got the standard size for Gracie and she did not like them. I then bought the tiny size and she goes nuts over it. She tries to kill the stump and the squirrels every chance she gets. This thing is sturdy! |
I've seen the toys in the store. But I am curious if it truly "keeps them occupied" for any length of time. To me, it didn't look near enough like a challenge for Coby. For the cost, I just chose a different toy. I'm sure they like it, because most Yorkies like anything. But is it really the "puzzle" it's advertised to be?? Thanks!! |
heres a link where you can see it and others like it, youcan get replacement squirrels too..click on the link then click puzzle dog toys :) http://www.bestfriendsgeneralstore.c.../merchant.mvc? |

Well maybe I'll give 'em a try then. They are really cute. I was just afraid we'd lose all the squirrels in a matter of minutes and be left with an expensive empty tree stump!! :D |
I know at Valleyvet.com you can order replacement (set of 3) squirrels, bees or birds. I also found a miniature version of the hide a squirrel at UPCO. Might be on their online store www.upco.com. (Item number 10573) The puppies especially like the Hide-A-Squirrel Junior (its official name) UPCO also has the IQUBE Junior too. I have never bought one of those before though. |
Max loves his hide a squirrel. At 1st he could care less until I read the directions. The directions say to wrap it up in a piece of your clothing for sent over night. This worked. He now plays with it all the time. |

Oh, that sounds interesting! I think I'm going to have to try the squirrels. I don't want Coby missing out on all the fun the other kids are having!! :woof: |
Do most get the hide a squirrel Jr or the large one?? |
i never hear of this toy till now. it sound interesting. i wonder if Bengi would like it. I just saw it at amazon for less than $10. |
:( The inside of the tree was sewn so badly... I could have done a better job and I don't even sew! Maybe it was made on a Friday and the folks just wanted to go home. Or on Monday and they were still asleep... Glad you're getting a new one. |
Gracie is getting too smart! Gracie just cracked me up. I didn't think Gracie was that smart! I was upstairs in my office visiting YT. Gracie brings me an empty tree stump. I asked her, "where is hide-a-squirrel?" She ran downstairs and brought me one squirrel. I went downstairs and found the other two by the patio door, where she camps to watch the birds at the feeder. She is now happily in my office trying to get the 3 squirrels back out of the stump. Too cute. |
