i use plain old baby shampoo. i wet down abby ,apply a hand full of conditioner ,comb out all tangles. rinse, then shampoo. when you apply conditioner before bath it wont hurt when getting out tangles. i do all my yorkies this way.i never have to pul out tangle ,they slide right out |
We have been using Earthbath products. We love them! Since it is so dry here the dogs skin was getting dry & itchy. I have been bathing them with Oatmeal & Aloe Shampoo & their creme rinse & conditioner. Works better then any thing I've tried. Angel's hair is silky & tangle free. |
Lilly has pretty bad skin allergies. We recently started using the TropiClean OxyMed Oatmeal shampoo & the OxyMed rinse and they're wonderful! Very soothing to her skin and they make her hair sooo soft, I snuggle her 23234 times more than I did before and considering how much I did it before... that's a lot. |
Cranberry Fields Mango! Love the shine & especially the lingering smell days later! I've invested in so many, and so far, this is #1. I found it at village pet outfitters online very reasonably priced! |
 on Minksheen I just ordered the Biogroom Conditioner...so we'll see how that goes. i was very disappointed with cowboy magic. :thumbdown |
I just ordered Minksheen. |
Love the John Paul Pet Products 3 Attachment(s) Shampoo: CLEANSE (tearless puppy & kitten shampoo) Conditioner: OATMEAL (conditioning rinse) Ear & Eye Wipes: just an added xtra for in between cleaning All products are SERGEANT approved:animal-pa ( I have attached pictures) |
I think what works on one dog doesn't necessarly work on another. Kind of like human hair products. We all have a different type of hair. I use #1 All Systems shampoo and conditioner on all three dogs, even though one has a silky coat, one has an extremely thick cotton coat and one has a thin cotton coat. It cleans without stripping and drying the coat. (I also add more water to the shampoo than what it's called for) I do add vegetable glycerine to the conditioner and it really helps to keep the tangles out. During the dry winter season, I give them a hot oil treatment before their bath and I also give them Omega 3, 6 & 9 each day all year long. This helps immensely in keeping their skin from drying out. |
Duxuo calm shampoo from my vet. Healed Baby Chloe's dry flakey skin in 2 treatments. About 20.00 |
You know, I'm totally nuts and I can't remember if I posted this here already or not, so if I did, excuse me and just ignore this LOL. But I now use Doc Ackerman's Herbal Colloidal Oatmeal Shampoo on Tatum (and I even use it on Stedman) because she has such awful allergies and I cannot tell you how awesome this shampoo is! It is so, so soothing for Tatum. If your baby itches like crazy and has allergies (or well, even if they don't!) I HIGHLY recommend this shampoo. I will not use anything else! As I'm sure most of you know, an Oatmeal shampoo is best for dogs with dry, itchy, flaky skin and/or skin sensitivity and/or allergies...and Colloidal Oatmeal at 3.8% is the very FIRST ingredient in this shampoo  It is All Natural too, which is fantastic. Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend it! Steddy and Tate give it 5 :animal-pa's way up! :D |

Minksheen had 4 negative reviews and Cranberry Fields had 2 negative reviews. Buddy Wash had no negative reviews. The lowest, by far, was Cowboy magic, with 9 negative reviews and 4 positive reviews. Minksheen and Cranberry Fields had the second most negative reviews. Other products were not reviewed enough. I believe if you are looking for a new shampoo/conditioner, you should try Buddy Wash. I excluded some people shampoos and a few shampoos for other reason. They should not have affected the overall results. *NOTE: I have not tried any of these and am posting this based on what other people have said. |
nneessaa- Thank you so much!! Did you find that here? |
Yes, I just tallied all of the reviews on this thread. |

BioGroom all the way! I order it online from Pet Edge. I absolutely love the Silk Creme Rinse. The Oatmeal shampoo is great if they have dry/itchy skin, but if you want them to smell good for a longer period of time, then the Groom 'n Fresh is awesome for that. Great stuff! They have lots of different kinds to suit your specific needs. BioMed (from BioGroom) is awesome for dogs with skin problems. It's a tar/sulfur shampoo that looks gross, but works great! |
Buddy Wash I have use Buddy wash for years shampoo and rinse, and for some odd reason I don't why I tried the bio/groom pet silk cream rinse on Teddy and he look like cotton candy on 4 legs. Teddy 9 mos old and has thick coat, Wicket on the other hand has a thin silk coat and the silk cream rinse did fine on him. needless to say I am sticking with the buddy wash and rinse. |
That's strange. What shampoo did you use? We used BioGroom products in grooming school and none ever had a problem. Did you let his hair dry or did you blow it dry? It needs to be diluted in water with a 4:1 ratio and mixed well. For some dogs, it needs to be diluted even more. |

PET HEAD by TIGI I love Cain and Able in the summer because it really helps keep off bugs, but the hubby does not like the mint smell. I love Plum Silky. It smells great and since it is a concentrate that you dillute~ what a value! I also liked Buddy Wash, not quite as much, but it was still good. My new favorite ~ Pet Head by the makers of Bed Head, TIGI! Smells wonderful and works beautifully. Hubby also loves the smell and he is incredibly picky :) I did not like Tropiclean. It just does not measure up to the others mentioned! |

I just didn't understand why the conditioner instructions said to massage in conditioner, rinse and repeat. I've never repeated with a conditioner before and didn't today either. Not really necessary as it works well the first time. I am pleased with this product. |
