I bought pet steps for Jazz because he's had surgery on one knee and hip and I worry about him jumping on and off our bed. So far, he's ignored them. Have any of you had experience with this. Will he ever use the steps? |

Right now he might be alittle afraid try to get him to follow a treat up them then down a few times & then give it to him, go slow. Once he see's they are safe he will use them. I had alittle 2 step stool w/storage in the top that I got at a yard sell for $4. I got some wool fleece from walmart & double sided sticky tape to put it on & put it up to our bed. I showed Tilula how to use them. She does sometimes & not sometimes. |

Thanks. I'll do that with the treats. |

I did the treat thing with Jazzie too. Food is a great motivator! I'm sorry Jazz is hurt but I know once he figures out the steps he'll be up and down like lightening! If in doubt check out www.dogblogtv.com there is a clip there about the scary steps! |

Abigail LOVES her stairs to the bed! She uses them all the time. But, our senior, Mozart will NOT trust them. We were really hoping he would, as he can't get on the bed anymore, alone; and I just can't handle picking up 28lbs anymore. We've tried and tried to coax him up, but he just won't make use of them. I think he's afraid. :( |

He should learn to use them. My boy learned real quick how to go up them, but the down part took abit longer. What I did was put his favorite treat on the step in the middle so he had to use them to get to the treats. I also put him on the steps on occassion in the middle and coaxed him down, so I could watch him and make sure he didnt fall trying to learn. Now he runs up and down them fast. Hope this helps!!!! |

1 Attachment(s) It worked for us also, using treats. They love their stairs. |

I bought the "Doggy Steps" when I first got Brandi because I heard so many horror stories about dogs jumping off beds and breaking bones....she got used to the steps immediately....and that's how she gets on and off my bed....no jumping here |

I used treats also. Up and down several times..until finally when I wasn't looking she was down!! It will happen, be patient...and use lots of treats! |
