What do I need when picking up my new pup? What items can you all think of to take when we pick up Zoey at the end of the month? We'll be travelling for an hour and a half back home after picking her up. I have blankies , water bottle but is there anything else I should take? |
paper towels, harness, leash, water dish, bottle of water, small crate with soft bedding, put in a puppy toy, nothing to eat on the trip as it may make her sick. Stop every 15 minutes to half an hour to let her walk around a little bit and get a fresh drink of water. It's best to break them in with car riding. Don't let them have to stay in the crate very long at a time. Don't hold your baby on your lap while traveling. If you were to be hit from behind, your baby would get killed. Don't take those chances with your precious bundle. You could sit in the back seat with her while she's in the crate, just to reassure her. |
Thank you so much for all of the information! I really appreciate it. Erika |
i wouldnt put her in a crate its the same as the lap or worse i would buy a carseat for her its safer baby wipes ,water ,toys ,blankets ,cleaner, harness, leash, teddy bear for her to cuddle, nutrical , |
Nutrical is one of the necessities. |
The crate will protect your baby from all sides and from flying glass. The molded plastic crates are best for the tiny guys when traveling. |
Word of advise, stop few times and give potty break. I didn't stop for anything (about one hour drive) and she pooped in the car seat and I didn't notice until next day..... Yes she slept on her own poop on the way to her new home..... I felt terrible......It was dark and I didn't see and I really didn't smell anything....... If I can do it over again, I'll stop couple of time along the way!!!! |
Thanks - I will make sure we follow all of the advice we have rec'd here. I can not wait to get her. (Maxi may not be too thrilled :) ) |
