Anybody got any ideas what to use to solve this problem?
 

Our little Pookie has now figured out how to jump up on our couch. We have a corner set and the love seat side is backed up against a half wall that looks over the stairwell to our front door. It's a long drop down and now that she can jump up on the loveseat, she right away wanted to try to get up on the back of the loveseat. That puts her in danger of getting up on the railing of the half wall (an eight inch wide finished flat board) which is exactly the height of the back of the loveseat, and from there she can fall down into the stairwell onto the tile floor at the bottom of the stairs. Yikes!

It's about 5 feet from the railing (which is along an approx 10 foot long wall) up to the ceiling. Any ideas of how we can "fence" the railing along the halfwall to raise the height so she can't climb up on it from the loveseat back? We are thinking of a screen or trellis or net we can mount up to the ceiling. We have no where else to put our loveseat. The other wall across from it is a fireplace and the wall 90 degrees to it holds our 3-seat couch. Setting it out in the middle of the room will eliminate any space for Pookie's playpen.

Anyone seen anything anywhere that might fit the bill?

What about a group of theose long square planters with the ferns or whatever....perhaps it would block her view of the stairwell and she wouldnt think she could jump up on the plants. Also its kind of decorative instead of just trying to put a board of some kind up there. Just a suggestion

EEK that is scary:eek:! Can you move the couch AWAY from that wall, is that possible?

We thought of moving the loveseat away, but the couch and loveseat are a tight fit and are recliners, all of them, so moving the loveseat out would require moving the couch further down as well and there is only maybe a foot we could move it. Pookie is a jumper. She would probably try to jump the distance between loveseat and railing and would skid across the railing which is flat, for sure, falling down in the stairwell. So we've got to rig something on top of the railing to prevent her from getting on it at all. Or we've got to put up some kind of screen or net.

Ohhhh, I see! Yea, netting from the ceiling down is the only way, I think, to keep her safe. Man, I'm so glad that you thought of this BEFORE something awful happened!

I dread the day Lola decides to get on our furniture, because we have hard floors she will land on when she jumps off. I don't have any great ideas to help, but I hope you get something figured out soon!

Thanks for the ideas. I kind of like the planter idea. Don't know if I can get hubby to go along with it, but I can try.

The planter idea is great or something, like pillows piled on the back of the couch maybe. Place them so they stand in a way that Pookie wouldn't be able to jump onto the back of the couch.
