help is there any product that makes hair grow out faster, or makes it look like the dog has thicker hair. my yorkie has really thin, slow growing hair, and i want to find something that will make it grow out |
How old is your Yorkie? Jo is 2 and Riley is 1 1/2, they both still have thin, slow growing coats that are about an inch or two from the floor and silk. I've heard the best coats are slow growing and thin and I'm hoping it's true! |
its not that shes a puppy, shes 8. and her coat isnt even that close to the ground its like 3 inches away at least, and we havent had it cut in a while. |
Hmmm...well, several people have mentioned using supplements like Missing Link or the Grizzly Salmon Oil. Have you tried supplements? |
her hair actually isnt silky either. its kind of dry actually |
What kind of food is she eating? |

You might try switching her food to one of the higher quality foods that are rich in Omega3. Several brands are available like Innova, Canidae and more but I can't think of them right now. You can search YT for threads on dog food and you'll come up with a ton of info. Also, the derm caps are more for dry skin I think...Riley used them when he was a puppy and they did help with that, he did get a little shinier too but he was a few months old going from his puppy coat to his adult coat and I think that was the problem with him...he was in that in between dull stage. |
oh thanks for your help:) im definetly giong to check out that dog food |

Hey there. My Bella is three years old and she too has or I should say had dry hair and it didn't grow to the floor like most of the yorkies (Very slow growing). I used Biolage deep conditioner after I gave her a bath and man it's silky now - not dry at all. I put a big glob of it in and left it for a few minutes then rinsed it out really well. it's not cheap the Biolage. I use it to deep condition my hair and figured I'd try that it couldn't hurt. I really like it. It's about $32 for a small container. Just keep it away from your pups face and do not use it on any pups under a year old. It's for humans but my Bella did fine with it and her hair is really manageable, shiny and silky now. Elaine |
