Has anyone heard of or used Wizdog? Anyone ever heard of this or used it for indoor potty training? I went on the website and they demonstrate the product with a funny dog cartoon. Just curious if it works. I would add the link, but I don't know how. It's at www.wizdog.com. |
Oops, I added the site and it worked! I was gonna tell my friend to get one because her puppy is peeing everywhere. He's playing with the pads and making a mess with the dog litter.:) |
I have used it - there is a lot of discussion on it here - do a search for "wizdog" and you'll find lots of info...:) |

We bought one, but Bella *never* used it (it's still just sitting at home). She was trained on puppy pads so I thought the transition would be seamless, but she didn't like walking on the plastic grates so we gave up. Instead we just bought puppy pad holders from Amazon.com (our problem was that Bella would "miss" the pad ever so slightly - not good with our wood floors! - or she would pick up the pad and run with it in her early puppy days). The pad holders solved our problems though it doesn't have the advantage of the Wizdog in that they walk through the soiled pads if you don't change them regularly (we change them daily so this isn't a problem for us). I'm sure other people have had success with the Wizdog, but we didn't. Hope that helps a bit! |
I spent a ton of money on this stuff. I have the wiz dog, pup head, and extra fake grass. I settled on cutting the grate in the wiz dog down and putting it in a litter box with newspaper underneath. My dog HATED it at first but once he got used to the litter box and being older...he seems to tolerate it now. suzie |
Thanks for the replies, it looked like a good idea, my friends puppy is about to be 3 months old. I think she'd be better off teaching him to use pads and mostly how to go outside. |
Sorry for the delay in responding - in my case, Buddy wasn't really a pad shredder. He didn't have too much trouble with the grate, but he would "miss" - so I took out the grate and used the blue bottom with a pad in it - it was just grooved enough that it kept him in the right place to do his business. I'm not sure what I would have done if he was a shredder - good luck! |
Sorry for the late response..We started using pads and Cookie began to shred them up like crazy so we bought a pad holder, it stayed nice for a few days but she figured out to pee in the center and then scratch it until it shredded so the pad holder was useless..We were at our last resort and bought the WizDog and at first she hated it but got use to the grid and we only use this now..Clean up is a breeze except sometimes when the poop is soft, it gets stuck in the grids but it is easier to clean that then paper all over the place and because the grid stops Cooke from scratching the pads, she never smells like pee anymore.. We invested and really think it was worth it ..We would buy it again for sure!! Hope this helps? |
Sounds like a good deal. Nancy |
smooth transition from pads to Wizdog JoJo was successful in transitioning from washable pads to the wizdog. I much prefer the wizdog because their feet don't get wet, the newspaper doesn't hold the smell of urine like the pads and I don't have to keep washing them. Sometimes he is on the edge and some of the urine makes it onto the floor but we had the same issue with the pad. I have two, one for upstairs and one for down and have been pleased with this product. |
Anyone know if the WizDog can be used outdoors on a covered balcony (with no spaces for falling off, of course). |
The Wizdog is plastic and should be fine for outdoors. |
I'm so glad I saw this post. I am moving into an apt with my 2 girls this coming week, and I've been trying to figure out the best situation for them. It is a very large complex, and the girls are trained to go outside. However, at 3 a.m., I don't think I'm going to be comfortable taking them outside by myself. Not to mention to girls on leashes, one being an 8-month old puppy. I will have a balcony and was considering some type of solution out there. I'm wondering if I can get them to use the Wizdog on the balcony so they will continue to habit of going "outside" but have a place that is secure for them (and me). Does anyone have dogs that share a Wizdog? |
mine arrived today. has anyone's dog been able to get the grate up? i am asking because i was surprised that it doesnt clip in or anything. it just sits. |
