Who can make??? I saw CPG (?) posting about this and thought it was a good idea... Who can make some clothes with snaps? I love the velcro but Mia's hair is getting longer and she is not happy with it - at all  I really think the snap idea is a good one. I'd be willing to buy some (fleece hoodie - harness - nightgown etc). |
Missy (yougetthesmiles) does snaps. She makes some cute dresses too. |
I started out making harnesses with snaps but I found that it leaves no room for adjustment on the dog for a nice fit everytime, also it worried me that the snaps might not be secure enough for walking harnesses. I would love to know other people's opinions who have used harnesses with snaps and how they liked them. I've made belly bands with snaps but only ones with elastic on the sides so they will be somewhat adjustable, otherwise the belly bands are either too tight or become too loose...Again, just my opinion and I'd love to hear others. |
Jodi, I just sent you a pm with an idea.... be sure to check your box :) |

Hi! I make all my furbabies clothes..I am going to make them harness vests and thought about using velcro but, I worried that if they try to take off that the velcro may come loose...have you ever tried making them with the plastic clips that are on the step in harnesses? I thought about trying this method. |
Well anyone who custom makes clothes would be willing to do the closures with snaps. I have a lady that i sew snaps on all her maltese clothes because Pinky is terrified of the sound of the velcro. Good luck with your search Melinda Little www.sassy-petwear.com |
I use snaps on my dresses for Lillie, she is only 3 lbs so the snaps are nice and secure. I have not had any problems are complaints on customers who have ordered dresses with snaps. I did have a lady buy a harness vest for her maltease, she said the velcro did not hold up and wanted to try snaps, but the snaps did not work for her dog either, he went to chace another dog and broke out of the vest. For a dog that does not obey when walking on a leash, I would not suggest a harness vest and just use a harness. |

I will be coming out early next year with a buckle closure as an option instead of the velcro so watch out for it. They are adjustable so will apply to puppies who are still growing . . . Just way too many things going on and not enough time for one person who has a full time job    Happy Holidays! |
I dont trust snaps if its a type of clothing that will have a d-ring on it and be used like a harness, I know a my 8lb chihuahua would be able to get out of snaps in a heartbeat. I'd prefer to try a zipper instead. Just my opinion:) |
4 Attachment(s) I just made a harness vest with a quick snap for Mitzi and her friend Monday. It has a quick snap on the chest band and velcro on the neck and chest but I can make it without velcro too. It works great and I figured out how to make it adjustable. I also made a step-in harness with a quick snap. If you like I could make you some. I have the quick snaps and D-rings. |
Wow you guys are just great!!! Thanks so much for giving me your input. I'm not sure what to do. Mia's hair is getting longer and it's getting harder to put her clothes on. Her hair gets tangled up in the velcro then she gets upset and starts struggling around... How about putting the velcro on the top of the coat???? :D |
