What do you think of the Kong toy? Does your yorkie have a kong toy? Does he/she like it? I was thinking about getting one... What do you put in it? Which one do you have? I don't get it... if you put some peanut butter inside, how do they manage to eat it? Thank you for your input :) |
Benji has a kong and loves it. Every once in a while I put peanut butter in it and he goes crazy. They somehow manage to get all the peanut butter out of it. I don't know how though....haha. They have other stuff you can put in it and there are treats that go it it too. They are all made by kong too. Hope this helps! :animal36 |
i put peanut butter inside and freeze overnite, the next morning i give it to her right before i leave the house. she licks, licks, licks till its all gone |
bought one and it wasnt worth it every dog is different |
I love the kong toys! They are the few toys that Hobbs has managed not to tear up! Silly boy  |
Is the peanut butter messy? |
I'm not exactly sure how Jaxon gets it out but he does, and there is no mess! I look at the Kong once he's done and you'd never even know there was peanut butter in it. I only use natural peanut butter - no salt or preservatives added - just peanuts. |
Chachi and Jewels love their kongs. I freeze peanut butter and yoqurt in them. |
I haven't put anything inside, but none of my dogs have ever played with a kong more than a couple of minutes. I was wondering about messes, too, with stuff inside it. omega |
All I put in Layla's kong are the little peanut butter treats, and I also break them in half so they're easier for her to get out. If she doesn't get any out for awhile she just gives up, so when they're broken in half she gets one every 5-10 minutes, and then she wants more. It definitely keeps her busy! |
both of my boys love their kongs! i do a few different things with them. sometimes i freeze peanut butter in it ( natural as well ) sometimes freeze yogurt ( plain) , and there are times when i mix a few pieces of kibble with a lil peanut butter .. keeps mine busy for awhile! sampson my boston also loves to just chew on his, and its actually the only toy that has never been destroyed in the 8 months we have had him. i bought the kong treats that go in them, but really think it was a waste of money, mine would rather have the peanut butter or yogurt and its much cheaper :) |
i break up their treats and stuff it, they love them...when i had peanut butter in them, they didnt touch it lol |
I thought Teddy loved it but he hasn't played with it, I think it's because I got him the medium size and not the really small one, he loves small toys cause he can pick them up so if your baby is really small get the smallest one, although I would recommend getting Tiny Tennis balls too because they're so fun, Teddy LOVES those and the good cuz |
Maci loves her little Kong! We put the little peanut butter snacks in the Kong that the Kong makers have for it. It keeps her busy for quite a while trying to get out of all of the treat! :D I haven't tried freezing anything in the Kong like peanut butter or yogurt, but that would certainly work. If I did that, I think I would have to give her the Kong outside. It might create a little bit of a mess when everything starts melting. However, the little snacks work great! I would highly recommend getting one, but every dog is different on what they like. Not all dogs will go crazy over this toy! |
Rocky isn't all that crazy about it. If he's bored he'll play with it, but it's not something that he'll forget about everything else. I've put peanut butter in it and ripped up some beggin strips, and some other treat thing too. |
Grayson loves his we got him the small version and loves to chew on it, I will have to try "frozen peanut butter" he will like that! |
Gracie has two Kongs, the little puppy kong and another log-type with grooves in the side where you put the treat. She pretty much ignores both of them. I tried the puppy kong filling, she got that out within 2 seconds. The peanut butter lasts longer, especially in the puppy kong. Even that occupies her for less than 15 minutes. The thing I don't like about the regular kongs is they are hard to clean, and if you forget to clean one, well, it can be rather gross! |
We have two of the original kongs...just buy the solid kong treats in peanut butter or liver...my baby absolutely looooooooves to chew on those toys until she breaks the treat inside and gets it out. I also bought the kong bone....also one of her favorite toys...I stick half a little bone treat in one end and the other half in the other side. These are the beeeeest things in the world if you work and have to leave your little ones at home alone.:D |

Roxy and Gracie have 4 different puupy ones but cant be bothered with them. I have tried all sorts of stuff to stick in there but neither one of them were very motivated to "work" for their treat....lol But I do know some dogs really love theirs.... so I guess you never know til you try it. |
Kong Toy? hmmm Maybe Pepper was too small when I first tried the Kong. He was 9-10 weeks but had no interest in it whatsoever. I got the smallest baby size and tried filling it with peanut butter or that special kong paste. No interest at all. Maybe I should try again, on those days that I have to leave him home to go to work... |
i stuff mine with honey and cherios! harley loves it and i swear he does not leave 1 drop of honey in his pen! he didnt quite get it when i first got him at 8 weeks but now he loves it, he is 14 weeks. |
I don't recommend the kong for older dogs i bought one for my 8 1/2 yr old guy and he LOVES it but we were playing with it one day and it loosened one of his front teeth, and he didn't eat for 3 days because his mouth was sore. |
Well, I thought I would try again after all the good suggestions here. I put a piece of biscuit in in and the girls went crazy over it. SInce then I have tried some other things and it is so fun to watch the ways they try to get the goodie out. So. I went out and bought the smaller size for my smaller girl. I put some peanut butter on my finger to see if they liked it and neither one of them were interested in it... I bought one for my brother's black lab cause I don't think he has enough toys :D . I'll bring it to him on Monday and see if he likes it. Thanks for all the good suggestions - I have wondered too about their teeth, even though my girls are still young. Actually it was my son who said I better be careful cause Tinka is such an aggresive chewer. I wish it would take the baby tooth out of Kays's mouth! omega |
My Winnie is also an aggressive chewer (at least with her toys she is) and she ripped apart her red kong. We went the next size up and it didn't fair much better. It lasted about 2 weeks. So we swtiched over to the black kong (it's a stronger rubber) and she hasn't been able to make a single dent. But she still loves it. It is a lot bigger, so it took a little work for her to get used to carrying it around. She loves to chew it or fetch it and she especially loves when we put peanut butter in it. And in case you didn't know you can put it in the top rack of your dishwasher. |
hey I'm thinkig of getting this for our long car ride does it smell really bad? does it makea mess? (she just got a new carseat :)) and how long does it take them to be finished? Tila used to be "little miss tila tequila" we've since noticed she's "Little Miss Agressive Toy Chewer" ha ha |
I have to honest, Winnie's breath does smell after she has been chewing her kong. As for mess, well she gets a little peanut butter on her face, but that's about it. |
I got Cooper the puppy one and he seems to like it....I just put one of his regular small Iams hard puppy treats inside and he is sitting on the couch with dad ever so sweetly trying to get it the heck out of there!!! Hopefully it will keep him busy as he has been full of puppy energy tonight and driving us bonkers:D I say anything that they will like is worth a try. |
I bought one for my dogs when I first got it they played with it for maybe 2 minutes tops. Now they don't even look at it not even if I put it infront of them. |
