difference between pee pad and bathroom mat Has anyone had success with their dog being able to differentiate between pee pad and bathroom mat? My dog is doing great with potty training and ringing to go out. At night, i don't allow him out so I have the pup head in the bathroom...but it is so bulky and hard to clean...anyways...if it isn't there...my dog will confuse the bathroom mat for a pee pad and at people's houses when he was strictly on pee pads, he confused things for them...I was hoping the pup head would be "different" enough that he could tell the difference. I require him to ring a bell when he is with me before he "goes" so I can put him out. that is helping...but I'm hating these pup head things. I feel like there is no difference between carpet. I spent all this money on it...ugh...I'm thinking of putting a pad in a litter box...just wondering what people ahve done. suzie |
Hi. Here is what I posted on the other thread about this: Petco and Patsmart sell a doggy litter pan. One of the sides is a little lower so it's easier for our little ones to step into. My Sadie started out going in it on shredded newspaper. And I switched to pee pads in the box. I love the idea about the plastic canvas thing on top! I'm gonna go buy some tomorrow. You could put the fake grass in the litter box too. It's very light weight and not that big, but big enough to turn around in. Hope this helps. Also, I still put a few pieces of shredded newspaper on top of the pee pad. |

Happens here ALL the time! and at my Parents house... I have a litter box for my furgirls...Sadie would never use it and, she would eat the litter..I tried putting pee pads in it but she still wouldn't use it. Lillie, my new furbaby, uses the litter box most of the time. I have put one of the cloth pads in it (hospital ones). She plays and tears the paper ones. |
okay I did it Okay, I got the plastic canvus and pulled out an old litter box I was using for my other dog (long story). Perfect. I know it is smaller for my dog to pee in...but well...he'll just have to deal. Most of the time he goes outside anyways. Now I need to get the smaller grass. This is more convenient. Easier to lift and take into another room. The pans are too hard to carry around and trasfer in the house as well as the plastic grid. Canvus folds and I can put it away easily when company comes over and easier to wash. Not so bulky. thanks for the ideas! |

dog litter box Now I would like to buy a couple more dog litter boxes so that I can keep one int eh car and one at my father's house for when I work in that town and we stay over and visit. was trying to find them online cheaper suz |
rigged up my litter box...now what? Well, I put the canvus in the litter box and really like the "ease" of it. Now I can't decide if I want to still put grass in there to simulate "outdoor" or if I should just keep it with the canvus on top of newspaper or pee pad...woud that be "different" enough from carpet??? suzie |
I put the pee pads in one of those shallow under the bed storage boxes. It works great. they don't miss the pad that way, and the pad doesn't get moved out of place. |
romeo pees on bathmats too. i took them out of my bathrooms and i use a towel on the floor when i shower. i bought the litterbox. no luck he was already hooked on wee wee pads. |
