Carseat
 
I want to get a carseat for my 3, but I will probably need two. Buffy my chi is very independent and doesn't like to be very close to my other two. Rocco and Lily get along great so I figure they can ride together. So I guess I need a 2 seater and a 1 seater. I wondered if any of you have the type that go over the console in the front? I have a jeep commander that has a console, I just didn't know if that was the best kind to get. I think I like the lookout style with the fleece in them. Also how do you strap the dogs in the seat so they can't jump out? I have never seen one of these in person and don't know how they work exactly. Do you have to have a special harness or any special extras to strap them in? Where is the best priced place to get one? I seen one site that said it comes with a free travel rack, what in the world is a travel rack? Sorry so lengthy...need advice.

Shana(Tinkerbells closet), what is the light pink and hot pink carseat on your site made of? Is it soft? I love the pink ones.

I'm looking into getting a carseat myself for one dog but I don't know which to get.

I just got the lookout console seat. I think it is a wonderful idea (thanks to whoever recommended it!!) It stays put by strapping it to both seats and the dog stays put by strapping her in by her harness just like you would a leash with a harness. It states they must be in a harness b/c a collar can severely injure them if your car stops suddenly. Mine is little and holds up to a 4 lb dog and I have it in black to match my black leather seats. It comes in different colors too. I think it was on sale for 39.99 at Plow and hearth online.:)

Stump has a carseat that is super easy to use. You put the straps around the headrest, one around the back of the seat, and then this other one goes over the seat to prop it up. I love it because you can adjust the height where he can see out. It has a strap attatched to the seat that you hook onto his harness (or collar if you use a collar). And it keeps him from getting out. He loves his seat!

I found a picture of it online so I'll post that picture. But I bought his at Pet Supermarket for $15.

The hot pink material is what they call naughahyde which is a vinyl material with a leather-like finish. Its really easy to wipe and since its a vinyl you really cant stain this fabric. The inside is a soft sherpa lining and is washable.

Thanks Shana, I wish the pink was a cloth I don't really like the leahter look. I like the suede material too that I have seen. i am still looking around though.

I personally have the quilted black(its a nylon/cotton type material) lookout II carseat. I like the material plus it matches my black truck and if my husband want to drive the girls somewhere he doesnt have to look like a sissy :p lol

Good point on the color. I like the quilted too. Do you think the lookout II would be big enought for Rocco and Lily or do I need to get the Buddy one for two dogs?

I started with this one for Sissy - but she hated it. You are not supposed to use it in the front seat (even though the photo shows it there) because an airbag going on can kill the animal in the seat. I then got the Lookout Console and she loves that one. She wants to be close to me and she can be in the console. It works only for smaller furbabies - up to 6 lbs.

Stump Loves his carseat. We have used his in the front seat, I'm guilty right there. But lateley I've been putting him in the backseat, I drive a Mini Cooper Convertible, and my backseats fold down so I can still strap him in. He loves driving with the top down, but it sure does wear him out. I think it is because the whole time he is sniffing. Haha It's adorable watching his hair blow in the wind everywhere.

i totally recommend lookout carseats. it saved romeos life in a bad car accident.

We bought the Look Out II in washable black quilted stuff :p Mia doesn't go out much, yet (it's too hot!) but she absolutely loves it!!! I highly recommend them.

Can you not deactivate the air bag in your car? Most newer cars have a way to deactivate them when you need them off.....I know, my husbands new truck has a special key to turn his off. You might want to check and see.

Where did you get yours at?

We are looking more for a console lookout car seat for my SUV - anyone come across a good one that isn't too high priced?
