couplers... do they tangle or get twisted?? my mom has 2 yorkies and uses 2 retractable leashes. it's a handful. i told her i read about couplers on y/t... do they tangle or get twisted??? do the furbabies adjust well to couplers??? where can i get a nice high quality coupler for a 5lb and a 10lb yorkie??? thanks...  |
It depends on what couplers you buy, but a majority of them are made so that they will never get twisted or tangled. Are the dogs use to walking beside each other, do they both go the same pace and do they get along when they do so? I use a coupler for mine and I think it is a great training tool, it teaches the dogs to work together since they are connected. I got mine off of ebay and I am very happy with it!! |
I think couplers are great for handling two. I bought one at PetSmart. It looked like they only had the big heavy ones, but if you look where the collars and harnesses are for the very small breeds they have one in with that group and it is much lighter in weight. It was only $8 or $9 dollars. I made my second one. |
I just started using a coupler this week. I am starting out just using it around the yard till they get used to it. The kind I have doesn't get tangled, but the individual lines get twisted. (not with the other one) They have to learn to walk together - not sure how long that will take! It is fun though, to see them walking together - hopefully soon we can go to the park and stuff with it. Do a search here for couplers - a couple members make nice ones! omega |
We use a coupler Its works nicely for us. I just make one alittle longer than the other...mine usually end up walking in a line one behind the other. It works well for me so I only hold one leash. i got mine at petsmart. |
is this a good one?? http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...xt=coupler&N=2 |

i bought one friday from petsmart. it's great , but the larger yorkie seems to be pulling the little one around too much. is there like an adjustment period??? |
The one I loved to use has two leads on a swivel hook. The best feature besides the swivel hook is I can take one leash off if I only have one yorkie with me. This was great since the leads clips on at the handle. It's hard to describe so here is a link to the item. http://www.jbpet.com/Shopping/produc...CollarsSpecial |
I have the coupler made by Chattiesmom and LOVE it. They don't get tangled, one doesn't pull on the other, they are VERY lightweight and don't get tangled in their hair. I also have the leash and harnesses for both pups and couldn't be more pleased. That is the ONLY way my two get to go on walks together now!! |
