I know we've had this discussion before, about the black light showing ALL of the stains you had no idea were there! Yeah, all around her potty pad we THOUGHT she was using:) Anyway, Simple Solution Odor and Stain Remover totally works! We noticed that area was starting to smell. So about a week before we were having family over, we turned on the light and literally poured it straight out of the bottle on to the spot. The key is, it has to be saturated enough to get down to the pad or the smell will stay. So, poured it on, and then, nothing, we just left it! No scrubbing or anything. It took a few days to dry fully, and it smelled worse before it got better....but turn on the blacklight now and NOTHING!!! You can't even see it was there or smell it! I'm so glad we found this product. I had read it works better than Nature's Miracle due to it having these two ingredients instead of one. Anyway, so to go on and on, but just had to share my news!!!!

As far as I know. I haven't seen it at Walmart or anything. I've seen it at Petco and Petsmart though. I'm sure it's available online as well.

Does it take a special blacklight? I picked up a blacklight bulb (regular-style) and put it into a desk lamp and tried to check our carpets. I knew where a few stains were, but the light didn't pick them up.

I agree that Simple Solutions is awesome!

no, I don't think it takes anything special...but we did have to hold the black light down towards the carpet for it to pick them up. We have a big one from my DH's college days!!! so it's pretty long and has a long cord, so we were able to take it all around! how fun:)

I've been thinking about trying the black light (a little afraid of what I might find) but...does it have to be dark outside when you do this or can you do it in the daytime?

we normally waiting until dark so we could see it better. We did it right before bed, so it was mostly dry by morning. I would think as long as you can make the room mostly dark it would still work, but the darker you go, the better you can see!

I have a odor and stain remover for pets from Petsmart and it works good. I wanted to try the black light to check for stains on my carpet but where can I get one?

I bought my black light at WalMart. They had 2 sizes so I bought the large fluorescent one with the long cord.

at Walmart they sell something call Urine Gone like seen on TV.. It comes with one. I jsut recently bought it and wow did I find way too many surprises. I thought My dog was almost potty trained... boy was I wrong.. within a few and I mean few seconds of him running into another room he was pottying them running right back out.. He is a squatter too. At first I thought it could be juice or milk from my daughers sippy cup.. But we put a spot of milk and a spot of juice on the floor to test it and let it dry... Didnt show up... So all of it was urine. The unrine gone works!!! We've been putting it on all the place which with the naked eye you could not see, not even a stain on the carpet... After it drys we bought a great shampooer made by Hoover at Lowes and cleaned them... Now spots are gone. Then I went black light crazy in bathroom. Which was clean, Kitchen... Showed every grease spot that you thought that you had cleaned... Door knob (germy) etc. Now I think I've become a germ-a-fobe... I've been cleaning like crazy... I am a clean freak and thought my house was clean, but the black light showed otherwise.:eek: :eek: :eek:

:rolleyes: I think I will buy stock in this product !!I have the Simple Solution but have never just poured it on the carpet. Would it work if I put it in the shampooer and soaked the carpet that way? At least it would be even .I noticed when I spot cleaned that you could see the clean spot.Our carpet is very old, a bit faded and we live in the country in an old farm house so I have to shampoo the carpet at least three times a year just from the dust settling into it.Since I got the two babies ,add the pee pee stains and it looks like a leopard laying on the floor :eek: I have a blacklight and will try it tonight but I am scared that what I have considered clean isn't really so. :( I truly do prefer hardwood floors :p

I know it says that you can put it in the carpet cleaner but we haven't tried yet. We wanted to make sure it got down to the carpet pad or it won't work. But, I think from now on I'm going to put it in my carpet cleaner just in case!

We didn't have any problems with the carpet fading...from the eye you can't even tell anything was ever there. But, we have pretty light carpet, so I don't know!

Yes, I have tried zero odor. I like it for smell removal...I spray it around the cat box and such...but it didn't do well for stain removing. It basically just made the stain get larger!

I found this one at Walmart, but did not buy it. I guess I was looking for a flashlight type.

Is the cord long enough to drag around, or do you just put another extension cord on it?

Are you saying you got a black light with the Urine Gone?

If so, was this in the pet dept?

Hi Kate,

I got one in Petsmart and it doesn't use a cord. It was with the carpet cleaning stuff for dogs. I think it is made by simple solution and it was called U.V. light. It takes 8 batteries.

Potty Spotting
 
The Super Walmart that I go to had a special display by the checkouts of the Urine Gone and it does come with a black light. I didn't get it because I have hardwood and didn't know if it would work on that. I am a little afraid to find out. If anyone has used anything on hardwood floors, please let me know.

I have been using Simple Solution for years and I swear by it. I buy it at Petsmart because it is cheaper there. Have seen it at times in Walmart, but Petsmart is still cheaper. I have never used a black light (sort of afraid of what I might see LOL) We are getting new carpet later in the year and I think I will definitely get one then. Hopefully Abbey will be completely house broken by then. Some days she does so good and other days its like "What pee pads? Don't know what you are talking about.":grin2: :grin2:
