Wow, that certainly is such a great price I went ahead and placed an order on a small lookout.

Which carseat did you end up getting? I have a console lookout and both my dogs love it. . . unfortunately, it can only accomodate up to 4 pounds so for travelling to and from the vet, I will use that but if I want to take both dogs, I will soon have a carseat they can share. Thanks for the tip . . .

Wow - I was excited to get a Lookout Console on Ebay for $51 including shipping. This website is the first time I've seen it quoted that it can hold up to a 6 lb. dog. I was a little unsure about getting the console cause Sissy is at 4 lbs, but I have a different car seat and she will not sit in away from me. I'm hoping the console works better!

We have THIS one for Sully and use it every single day and it works GREAT! Sully used to drive me nuts b/c he loved being on my lap when I'm trying to drive, talk on the phone, and merge lanes on the interstate....lol, yeah um that's dangerous. So now he sits in HIS seat and he knows it's all his and LOVES it!

I have that one and Sissy hates it!! I guess she's just too far away from me. I'll sell it for $15 plus shipping for anyone who wants it. It is black in color and was used all of about 3 times!!

That's really interesting to hear she hates it! Sully couldn't be happier in his Outward Hound seat.

In fact, the other day I had to fold down the passengers' side seat so I took off his carseat and put it in the back seat.....and Sully got in the car and hunted around the car for his seat and sat on top of it (folded) in the backseat! He knew it was HIS seat, how funny is that? It wasn't even up high or anything.

Jodie, Sissy will love the console car seat . . . it is right next to you so you can easily steal kisses from her . . and they are so comfy she will just snuggle right in. I am keeping mine as it fits Annika still but went and bought the small lookout for the back seat so Tiger and Annika can share it . . .

Nikki+2 06-20-2006 11:10 AM

Wow those are great prices! I have a small console lookout and love it! I am hopefully getting a new car tonight that will be an SUV and so now I'll have room for the large one. Yay! With 3 yorkies I need it! My mom is in the pet industry (dog boutique/groomer) and she takes me along with her to the pet trade shows. I got my seat at a show for $25 wholesale so $34.99 is awesome!

My little guy has that one too .... HE loves it! .. At first the transition was upsetting to him ... he wanted to stay in my lap ... it only took a week for him to make it his own ...;) It's great with the inflatable pillow thing isn't it?

What about driver and passenger airbags? does the console carrier keep them safe in case of a collision and airbag deployment?

LuvMySissy 06-22-2006 10:45 AM

I just got my Console Lookout today and Sissy took right to it. She fits comfortably inside and laid right down with her little paws and head over the end.

Also, if you go directly to the Snoozer website, the small console states for small dogs up to 8 lbs. Sissy is just 4, and fits secure in the seat without lots of room - so if you have a do much bigger than 6 lbs, you would need the larger console seat.

I do not believe most cars have airbags in the center of the front seat - just in front of the driver and passenger seats. And there is no warning about airbags with this seat like there are with others that go right into the seat.

Thanks for posting this! I feel like a bad mom when I let Diamond sit in my lap while I am driving but she always has to be near me, unless she starts to get fidgety and that is when it gets dangerous.

Like someone else asked, what is holding the console lookout in place?

Lauren, I highly suggest you get the console car seat. It is inbetween the driver seat and the passenger seat. The seatbelts hold it in place. I have one that can hold up to 4 pounds and Tiger used it for the longest time and now Annika is enjoying it as well. When they are in it, they just want to snuggle and go to sleep . . .but easy for me to give them kisses in-between traffic light stops . . .

I just ordered the console carseat for the back as I want them together when travelling. I wish there was enough room on my SUV to accomodate the larger console lookout . . .so I had to settle for a backseat one.

Jodie, that is what both of my babies do . . .they lean their chin on the edge of the console and just "hang out" . . .When my daughter takes Tiger out of it, he would go right back in there . . just love it! I am sure Sissy will love it too and be safe at the same time.

I know my SUV does not have the airbag in the center . . .

Sorry for all the questions but does it come with seatbelts? I am assuming you just attach the seatbelts to the console somehow.

There is one strap that goes around the console and then two other straps that goes between the seat and back of the driver (and passenger) seat and then hook together to hold it tightly in place. It is somewhat difficult to get the straps through the seats, but the good news is they are attached to the carseat by a loop sewn into it so if you need to remove the console, you can keep these straps in place!!

Sissy also really likes being close to me and is not even content to be on my lap, but has to be in my arms. With the console seat, she can literally lay against my arm. So far, so good - she is right next to me so a much better option than being in the back seat!!

Oh yes, I so wish I could put a bigger console right next to me :( . That is why I am keeping my small one intact because it is still usable if only one is travelling.

There is only one drawback to this carseat . . it is a pain to put it on so I never, ever take it out. Here's a tip . . . always put a favorite blanket over it so you won't ever have to worry about getting it dirty . . .

Thanks for the clarification. I am going to order Diamond one. I think I spend more money on her than on me which is hard to believe! Yorkies are so much fun :) If only she would sit still for me to put in bows!

Kona 06-22-2006 02:51 PM

I'm thinking about getting a 2nd yorkie next month. Should I just get a larger one so both of them can fit in? Or if they are both on the smaller size (4 - 4.5 pounds) will they both fit in a smaller one?

LuvMySissy 06-24-2006 09:11 AM

Based on how Sissy fits in the smaller console seat at 4 lbs, I would get a bigger one if you are planning on putting two in it. Just make sure it will fit correctly on your console. Or with how great these prices are, get a smaller console for when just one travels with you and one of the small regular lookouts for when the two go together...

That is exactly what I did. I could not get a larger console lookout as the space between seats are limited so I got them the small lookout for the backseat that hand hold up to 19 pounds (pretty good size for a 5 pounder and hopefully a 4 pounder when Annika is full grown). I make couplers so that is what I plan to do since the small lookout only comes in one hook. I am retaining the console lookout for when only one needs to travel with me (like to the vet).
