Not-made-for-dog purses I know that there are tons of sites where you can purchase a dog carrier (made especially for that use) but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about smaller purses that are good to carry around a smaller dog? My puppy is waaaaaaaaaay too small right now to fit into the made-for-dog carriers. She would go slipping and sliding from one end to the other! Has anyone used a regular purse? And if so, which one? I tried to fit her into one of my soft purses, but I'm so afraid that someone might bump into me and the purse and hurt my baby! |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk! I would suggest finding a small dog carrier purse and place a sherpa fleece pad in the bottom. Your fur baby can grip on this pad and not go rolling around. The dog carrier purse will be better suited to carry your baby than a purse because they are made specially for a dog and also have a clip inside to clip you baby's harness to - this will keep them from falling out. I really think a bag made for a dog is better than any purse. |
Is the dog still a puppy that will be growing fast? If it is, maybe just wait till it is big enough to fit in the extra small carriers. If all carriers are to big maybe get a small one and put padding at an end of it so the pup doesn't slide. I don't know if putting a dog in a actual purse is the greatest idea though. |

I have a carrier on my website that comes in a small size specifically for tiny dogs. Its cute and looks like a purse but its a carrier. I know you were looking for a purse, but I would still recommend you get a small carrier becasue they have the ventalation windows so dog can breath and I'd be afraid a purse would get too hot in the summer. http://tinkerbellscloset.com/Browse_...rrier_in_Black http://tinkerbellscloset.com/Browse_...arrier_in_Pink |
I have a 3lb poodle(5 yrs. old) He was also very small (1 lb) when I got him, I bought a small carrier like shown in other posts. I put a piece of lambs wool in the bottom so he wouldn't slide, I also put a soft small purse in with him as my purse therebyby only having to carry one bag, also some of the bags have pockets on the outside and you can put your wallet and keys in the pockets, worked great for me!:animal-pa Charlie's mom (Arlo's and Alfies and Bosleys mom too) |
when romeo was a little tiny pup i put him in one of those front body bags. i would line it with baby blankets and safely place him inside. no worries about being bumped. i got it at petsmart on clearance for like 10 bucks. |
