Baby gates...need them WIDE Does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced baby gate that will fit an opening about 50 inches wide, that I do NOT have to bolt to my walls?? I am trying desperately to make an area to confine the pups at night, as they have taken to peeing on the bed, and to keep them form peeing all over the hardwoods. One of them also pee'd on the ottoman over the weekend. Hubby was not happy  I don't know what has gotten into them:confused: They are usually so well behaved, but then, too, some new doggies moved into the neighborhood...Any ideas appreciated!! |
My kitchen opening was too wide for baby gates so i take my xpen and put it accross that opening. Xens are great too have anyway and they come in handy for traveling. I got mine at pets Supplie Plus but they also have them on ebay. |
I got one years ago, I believe it was from Toys R'us. It is a mesh one made by Evenflo. It is GREAT. I don't know if they have them any longer, but good luck! (I think the xpen idea is a good one too :D ) |
i've seen them in the brookstone catolog, but kinda pricey. |
I believe that www.dog.com has baby gates that are really wide and some that are really tall. They are reasonably priced. It is hard to find a gate for a really wide opening, I looked everywhere at local stores and could not find them. |
Here is the one I bought from www.target.com http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...sin=B00067AEGC It goes up to 60" wide and requires no bolting. I've also seen them on eBay. |
I used an expandable window screen, Bailey is not a jumper and never jumped on them so they worked fine. I got mine at Home Depot for like 6 bucks. |

That's a good price too! I wish I had a target close to me.:animal-pa |
I have the same one from Target to keep my 2 yr old skin kid out of stuff. They work great. Easy to use too. |
1 Attachment(s) We have several really wide doors and we bought the plastic lattice at Home Depot and cut it to fit. It's cheap and portable. (If you look in the back of this picture you can see.) I also use a piece on my stairs held up by a bookstop to keep them from going upstairs when I don't want them to. BTW-when we first got him, Dublin could walk right through the larger weave lattice, so you might want to be sure to get the small right off the bat... |
I believe I saw one in the petedge catalog I just received in the mail. I was looking at getting one myself. I have a 70" opening I'd like to block off. |
Have you tried a consignment store for children? Sometimes they have different size gates and they are very resonable. Also, Foster Smith, the catalog for pets, although they might be pricey. I had to use two child 28" gates because Buddy jumped over the one. At four months old! He is a jumper, never knew Yorkies could jump so high. |
I bought one from Target. It's wooden, expandable, opens, shuts, and doesn't require bolts. Cost was around 50 bucks. You can find it in the baby department. HTH. |
i got this one at petland for 24.99 |
