Puppy pads A Yorkie friend pointed me in the direction of someone who sells puppy pads in bulk. AFAIK, they are 'seconds', i.e., irregularly shaped or slightly wrinkled. I bought a box and I've been really pleased. The pads were $14.00 for a box of 200, and she shipped them UPS to my door for $15.19, a total of less than $30.00. Her email address is puppypads@mindspring.com. She accepts paypal. I do *not* know this lady personally, so I hope no one thinks I'm trying to solicit business. I just thought it was a fantastic price and I love to share my bargains. |
You must have read my mind. I am almost out of pads again and wondered if I could get them in bulk somewhere. Thanks for the site. |
You are talking about the disposable ones, right? Does anyone besides Yorkie Rose and I use the washable ones? I buy mine from a recycler in FL and I love them. Even if I have to wash them. I have found that more than one Yorkie and you have poopied and peed snow.. Mine can find a pee spot the size of a nickel and when they do, they shred it and spred it!!!! |
Whispersmom- I would use washable ones. I have two dogs. I just don't know how to find them around here. What type of recycler do you go to? Are these pads they use for the elderly? |
pads I do like the disposable, but with pups from time to time the shredding and mess never stops. Washing is a pain and I realize it bothers many to have used pads in the same washing machine you wash your clothes, but I do like cloth!..Especial the smallest size. Do you know there was a show breeder in NY who used expensive velour towels all over her house for the dog to pee on? ..of course she had hired help to wash the towels and clean the house. LOL |
Chachi, there is a company who has a site Valethics in FL. and they wash and sterilize then grade the pads. They go from hardly used to some with holes in the large ones and are priced accordingly. The small ones are new and are about 3 dollars or less. I have them shipped to me by the dozen cause I use the small ones for puppies and in whelping beds. The large ones are larger than newspapers. You can use them under newspapers cause they are waterproof on one side and quilted on the other. I wash them in electric diswasher detergent cause it has sodium hypochlorite(like bleach) and soap typ product that breaks down the protein and cleans the really well. I always rinse twice and use fabric softener..I give a soiled one to the new owners when I am placing puppies And, yes, they are the ones that are used for the elderly. I am very sure that is why I love them so much..I loved nursing and working with the elderly when I was working as a nurse. |
Whispersmom- Thanks again for some very valuable info!!!! I have to win my hubby over to this idea but I like it!!!! Us pet owners really receive valuable info from breeders like yourself. Thanks again! |
I use the washable pads as well. No shredding and much cheaper in the long run. I'm not real worried about using the same washer. Bleach cleans it out. I get my pads at piddlepads.com. It maybe cheaper to buy the used hospital ones, I have just not seen them. I think I paid 60.00 for a dozen and that included shipping. |
Not to mention the washable ones are much safer for the environment. Good idea! I am going to look into getting some. |
I use washable pads too..from piddlepads.com They are very durable.. I wash mine separate from the other laundry and use a touch of bleach.. I don't use fabric softener because it could cause them to be less absorbant and the smell might bother the pups. Here is the web address for the other place.. http://www.valethics.com/ |
I would loooove to try washable pads! i didn't even know it existed lol.. my two terrors always shred the pads when i'm gone even for 5 minutes  .. i see the pads are like the ones at my work.. i'm a nurse at a hospital so i think i can sneak a few home ;) |
I also use the washable ones, but I have the pooch pads. I got them at petedge. They are more expensive then those that are listed above. I think they are 2 pads for around $20. I only have 4 so needless to say I am washing them a lot. Reese has just started shredding the disposable ones and I am sick of picking up the shredded paper everywhere, especially her from her mouth, lol. What a little freshy sometime, ;) OMG we just had a breakthrough, she just peed on the pouch pad, whoohooo!!! |
